He says its backend is written in C++23 and its frontend uses WebAssembly (WASM), with speed and infrastructure costs motivating those choices. How Hanterov’s camera history led to Plënka
In a September 15, 2026, DEV Community post, Hanterov traces the idea to a long-running interest in photography. He recalls reading the print magazine Photo, seeing local shops digitize film, and shooting Kodak and Fujifilm rolls. His camera of choice, he says, was an old Soviet FED rangefinder. Hanterov later studied computer networks and servers and worked with enterprise equipment. He says programming was not his preference, but the arrival of large language models prompted him to consider building a stock-photo marketplace using his systems background and AI coding agents. He calls the project Plënka, explaining that the name translates from Russian as “film.”

Hanterov describes Plënka as a stock-photo marketplace under development. The indexed author-profile excerpt labels it pre-launch. That is the status reported in the September 15, 2026 source, not confirmation of availability today; the post does not establish that the marketplace has launched, has users, or has made sales.

Why use C++23 and WebAssembly?
Hanterov says the backend is written in C++23, while the frontend uses WebAssembly (WASM). He presents speed and the infrastructure costs faced by larger stock-photo businesses as reasons for the stack. He characterizes it as “blazingly fast,” but the post gives no benchmark, cost analysis, or comparison demonstrating an advantage.
That distinction matters: a technology choice and its motivation are not proof of the result. The post provides an introduction to the project, not measured evidence that its C++23 backend or WASM frontend is faster or cheaper than alternatives.

What the photographer-revenue figures do—and do not—show
The author-profile excerpt says photographers keep 75% of revenue and contrasts that offer with “the industry’s 15–40%.” Both figures are claims attributed to Hanterov’s profile, not independently established marketplace terms or industry statistics. The source does not specify the 75% offer’s conditions, or identify the companies, transactions, dates, or methodology behind the comparison range.
