What were the December 2025 PS Plus monthly games?
Sony announced five monthly games for December 2025. The supported platform differs by title:

Why was the lineup called a “rough start”?
TechYorker used the “rough start” characterization in its January 4, 2026 headline. That wording is an editorial judgment. The material available does not establish that subscribers broadly disliked the lineup: it provides no named poll, representative survey, attributable subscriber comments, or other measure of reception.

Sony described the offer as “special” in its announcement, but that is the company’s promotional language, not independent evidence of quality. Whether the selection feels worthwhile depends on which games appeal to an individual member; the available evidence does not support an objective quality ranking or satisfaction score.
When could members add the games?
The December monthly games became available to add on December 2, 2025. Sony’s announcement said November’s Stray, EA Sports WRC 24 and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator could be added through December 1, 2025. Those are historical dates, not an indication that either month’s offer remains claimable.

Are these the same as the December Game Catalog games?
No. Monthly games and Game Catalog additions are distinct PlayStation Plus benefits. Sony describes Essential as including monthly games updated at the beginning of each month; Extra and Premium add access to game catalogs. The official PlayStation Plus benefits page explains the tiers, whose benefits can change.
Sony published a separate Game Catalog announcement on December 10, 2025, listing additions such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Skate Story. Those titles should not be counted among December’s five monthly games. See Sony’s December Game Catalog announcement.
