The headline’s “up to 45% off” referred to LG’s 65-inch C4 OLED TV—not the PlayStation 5 Slim. The matching deal article was published October 7, 2024, ahead of Amazon’s October 8–9 Prime Big Deal Days, and its prices are historical rather than current offers.
What the October 2024 offers were
HotHardware reported the following Amazon prices before the 2024 event. The discounts and prices below describe that article’s snapshot; they do not establish today’s price, stock or sale status.

PlayStation 5 Slim
| Console or bundle | Reported price | Reported discount | What was included |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim with disc drive | $449 | $50.99 off | Console with Blu-ray disc drive; 1TB storage |
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition | $399.99 | $50 off | Digital-only console without a Blu-ray drive; 1TB storage |
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition plus NBA 2K25 | $449 | $50 off | Digital-only console and NBA 2K25; the article compared the bundle with a then-listed $64.94 standalone game price |
The reported $50.99 and $50 reductions applied to the respective console offers, not to a 45% PS5 discount. Whether the NBA 2K25 bundle made sense depended on wanting that game; its standalone comparison was the price stated in the 2024 article, not a current valuation.

| 48-inch | $996.99 | 38% |
| 42-inch | $896.99 | 22% |
The 65-inch model had the largest stated percentage discount. The 48-inch and 42-inch models were listed below $1,000 at those historical prices, and the article suggested they could also work as large PC monitors. Those prices are not evidence of current discounts.

How to compare the PS5 Slim versions
Choose the disc-drive model if you want physical games
The disc-drive Slim was listed at $449. HotHardware gave its dimensions as 96 mm high × 358 mm wide × 216 mm deep and storage as 1TB. A disc drive is the relevant distinction if you use physical game discs; the article’s price does not establish a present-day saving.
Choose Digital Edition if you use digital games
The Digital Edition was listed at $399.99 and measured 80 × 358 × 216 mm (height × width × depth) in the article. It has no Blu-ray drive. Sony’s official PS5 page describes both PS5 and Digital Edition consoles, notes broad PS4 backwards compatibility, and says the design and specifications can change: Sony’s PS5 product page.
Check game and display compatibility separately
Sony says PS5 supports 4K graphics when connected to a compatible 4K TV and playing a compatible game; high-frame-rate gameplay also depends on game compatibility. The official page states that over 8,500 PS4 games are playable on PS5, but that figure is Sony’s product-page wording, not a separately dated study. A TV’s advertised refresh rate alone does not mean every game runs at that rate.

LG identifies model OLED65C4PUA as a 65-inch, 2024 C4 OLED evo AI 4K Smart TV on its official US product page. HotHardware’s 2024 article described the C4 range as using the α9 AI Processor Gen7, supporting up to a 144Hz refresh rate, and having four HDMI 2.1 ports. These are specifications reported in that article, not independent picture-quality test results.

For a gaming setup, screen size and room or desk fit are practical starting points; compatible HDMI inputs and refresh-rate support are also worth checking against the console and games you actually use. The cited material does not establish comparative image-quality performance against other TVs.

The exact-title deal coverage was published October 7, 2024. It referred to Amazon’s two-day Prime Big Deal Days event, scheduled for October 8–9, 2024—not to a current or upcoming Prime Day promotion. HotHardware’s article is the source for the prices and discount claims above: the October 7, 2024 deal report.
For a purchase now, check a retailer’s live listing for the exact console edition or C4 size, availability, current price, and the basis for any claimed discount. The October 2024 figures alone cannot show whether a present offer is good value.
