Which phone has the better screen and size?
The Phone (4a) has the larger display: 6.78 inches versus 6.30 inches for the Pixel 9a. How do their cameras differ?
The Pixel 9a has a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide, according to Google’s announcement. The Phone (4a) has three rear cameras in Nothing’s marketing; TechRadar lists a 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 50MP periscope camera. Nothing advertises up to 70x zoom, but that figure does not by itself establish the quality of zoomed images.
Megapixel counts and zoom claims are not enough to determine which phone takes better photos. TechRadar’s reviewer described the Phone (4a)’s camera output as relatively clear but not especially detailed or color-accurate. Treat that as one reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee about every scene or unit. The available sources do not establish a controlled, head-to-head camera result.
Which has better charging and durability?
The comparison lists wireless charging and IP68 resistance for the Pixel 9a, versus 50W wired charging, no wireless charging, and IP64 for the Phone (4a). That makes the Pixel the more suitable fit if wireless charging or the higher listed resistance rating is a priority; the Nothing offers faster wired charging on the cited comparison. These ratings and charging details are secondary-source listings, so confirm the official specifications for the exact regional model before relying on them.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow long will each phone get software updates?
Google says the Pixel 9a will receive seven years of operating-system, security, and Pixel Drop updates. TechRadar reports three years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the Phone (4a). Because the claims come from different sources and may use different support-period start dates, the numbers are not necessarily counted on identical terms. Read each manufacturer’s policy for the relevant market if the precise end date matters.
Google also says Gemini is built into the Pixel 9a, with help across apps such as Maps, Calendar, and YouTube, as well as Gemini Live conversations. That is Google’s product description, not an independent performance assessment.
What is the price difference?
The available listings do not support a like-for-like price comparison. The US Google Store displays the Pixel 9a from $499; Google’s April 10, 2025 availability announcement also gave $499 as its US price at that time. Nothing’s UK product page lists £379 for the white Phone (4a) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. These are different markets, currencies, and configurations, so subtracting or converting those figures would not give a meaningful price gap.

- Choose the Nothing Phone (4a) if you want the larger screen, a periscope camera in the listed hardware, or 50W wired charging. TechRadar also notes that demanding games may require reduced graphics settings, so it may be a less comfortable fit if high graphics settings in demanding games are essential.
- Choose the Pixel 9a if you prefer a smaller display, want wireless charging, value the IP68 rating in the comparison, or prioritize Google’s longer stated update term.
- Let the local price decide if neither set of features is decisive. Compare same-market prices for matching storage and verify the exact regional model’s specifications before ordering.
