The Pixel 10a is a conventional 6.3-inch phone priced far below Samsung’s large-screen foldable. Samsung lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 from $1,899.99 in the US; the Pixel 10a launched at $499 in February 2026, while an October 2 report says its current US base price is $599. That puts the indicative starting-price gap at $1,300.99 using the reported newer Pixel price, or $1,400.99 using its launch price. These are dated reference prices, not a guaranteed checkout comparison.
How the Pixel 10a and Galaxy Z Fold8 differ
The main distinction is the form factor. Google’s Pixel 10a is a standard smartphone with one 6.3-inch screen. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 has a 5.5-inch cover screen and opens to a 7.6-inch main display. The Fold8’s larger unfolded screen is suited to users who want more room for multitasking or media; the Pixel is the simpler slab-style option.
Samsung lists the Fold8 at 201g. Google’s cited specifications do not establish the Pixel 10a’s weight here, so this comparison does not infer which is lighter.

Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose the Pixel 10a if
- You want a conventional phone rather than a device that unfolds into a larger screen.
- A lower starting price is more important than having a tablet-sized phone display.
- You value Google’s stated seven-year OS, security, and Pixel Drops update commitment.
- You want a 5,100mAh typical battery and are comfortable buying a compatible 45W USB-C PPS charger separately for Google’s stated fast-charge result.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if
- You want a 7.6-inch main display for a more expansive workspace or media viewing, while retaining a smaller cover display when folded.
- You are willing to pay substantially more for the foldable form factor and the listed memory and storage configurations.
- You prefer Samsung’s stated IP48 rating and accept that Samsung says the phone does not support S Pen or FlexMode.
Google and Samsung’s cited pages do not establish a directly comparable software-support duration, so the available facts do not support ranking the two phones on total update longevity.
