If Pinterest has blocked your new domain as spam and denied your appeal, first confirm whether the restriction applies to the domain, a single Pin link, or your account. Then correct any problematic destination you control and use only the review route stated in Pinterest’s decision notice. Pinterest’s published guidance does not promise a second appeal after a denial, and fixing a Pin link does not guarantee that a domain-level block will be lifted.

What a Pinterest spam block can mean

Pinterest says it may block links that redirect, use certain URL shorteners, lead to misleading, inappropriate or spam-like material, or otherwise violate its Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. The public explanation does not reveal why Pinterest blocked this particular new domain, or what evidence it used.

Do not assume that an error on one Pin proves Pinterest has blocked the whole domain. Read the notice and identify what it names: a domain, an individual Pin or URL, an account, or merchant or advertising content. Pinterest documents blocked links and account restrictions separately, and the applicable review process can differ.

Check the URL and correct what you control

  1. Inspect the full destination. Open the URL attached to the affected Pin and follow its redirects to the final landing page. Check that the page loads and accurately delivers what the Pin promises.
  2. Use a direct link where possible. Pinterest recommends linking directly to the source and says it does not allow certain redirects or URL shorteners. Remove avoidable intermediary links.
  3. Edit the Website field on Pins you created. Open the Pin you own, edit it, replace the Website link with the correct destination, and save. Pinterest says you cannot change the link on a Pin you saved from Pinterest or through the browser button. Instructions are in Fix a broken link.

Correcting a link can address a problem with that Pin, but Pinterest does not say that editing a Pin clears an existing domain-level restriction.

What to do after an appeal is denied

Keep the denial notice and follow any instructions it gives. Pinterest’s published materials describe appeals through the Help Center, the one-click link in an enforcement email, and the Reports and Violations Center where available. The available route varies by feature and location, and Pinterest may limit repeat appeals. Its 2024 DSA report says: “Appeals are how users can tell us if they think we made an enforcement error.” It does not establish a universal second-review route after a denial. See Pinterest’s 2024 DSA Risk Assessment and Mitigation Report.

If the notice provides a permitted appeal or contact route, make any further submission specific and factual. Include the case reference, blocked URL, screenshots, the redirect path you observed, and the changes you made. This is a practical way to explain the issue, not a list of materials Pinterest says every appeal must include. Avoid sending repeated submissions through unrelated channels: Pinterest says it may limit appeals and may suspend processing for frequent unfounded or abusive appeals.

Which route applies to your situation?

Situation Action or route Important limit
A link on a Pin you created is wrong or blocked Edit the Pin’s Website link and link directly to the source where possible. This does not promise to remove a domain restriction; you cannot edit links on Pins saved from Pinterest or through the browser button. Pinterest Help
You received an enforcement decision with an appeal option Use the Help Center, the appeal link in the enforcement email, or the Reports and Violations Center where available. Availability varies, and Pinterest may limit repeat appeals. Pinterest’s 2024 DSA report
You are an EU user disputing an eligible decision Check whether the Reports and Violations Center or a certified out-of-court dispute-settlement body is available for your decision. Certain decisions may be appealed within six months; eligibility depends on the decision and applicable rules, and a settlement outcome is not binding. Pinterest’s Digital Services Act page
You are a qualifying EU or UK Business User with restricted content or an account Follow the process in the restriction email; Pinterest names ICC and CEDR for mediation. This is not a general route for every user, and mediation does not guarantee reinstatement. Pinterest’s Platform to Business regulation page
You have not claimed your website Claim it only if you need to verify the relationship between your site and Pinterest account. Claiming verifies ownership; Pinterest does not describe it as a way to overturn a spam decision. Pinterest Business Help

EU and UK options are not universal appeals

Pinterest says EU users may appeal certain decisions within six months and may seek help from a certified out-of-court dispute-settlement body. The process depends on the decision and the user’s eligibility; the settlement body’s outcome is not binding on Pinterest or the user. EU and UK Business Users should check the restriction email for the applicable process. Pinterest says it is willing to mediate with European Business Users through ICC or CEDR. These options are limited by geography and status, not a guaranteed extra appeal for every denied case.

Claiming your website does not reverse enforcement

Pinterest’s website-claiming process verifies the connection between an account and a domain, subdomain, or path. It requires ownership and the ability to edit the site’s source code. Pinterest lists HTML tag, HTML file, and DNS TXT verification, plus Google Merchant Center for some accounts. A DNS TXT record may take up to 72 hours to propagate. Claiming a site is separate from appealing a spam restriction and is not documented as a way to clear one. Details are in Pinterest Business Help.

Do not confuse a spam block with a temporary rate limit

Pinterest also describes temporary account blocks caused by repeated actions, including saving many Pins from the same website quickly. It says most of those limits lift automatically within 24 hours. That is a separate issue from a notice that identifies a domain or link as spam; check the notice’s subject before treating the restriction as a rate limit. See Prevent rate limit blocks.
