Pinterest’s new Beauty Guides turn a hair or nail Pin into a practical plan: open the Pin, tap Get the Guide, then use the resulting details to prepare for a salon visit or try recreating the look at home. The feature launched October 6, 2026, for iOS users in the United States.
How Pinterest Beauty Guides work
Start with an existing hair or nail Pin. In the Pin’s closeup view, tap Get the Guide. Pinterest says its image-understanding technology identifies details in the image and combines that analysis with a large language model to create a guide. Pinterest describes this approach as part of Pinterest Intelligence, which combines first-party signals, visual understanding and purpose-built AI models. The company has not named the underlying language model.
A guide can help translate the image into language you can use with a salon professional or instructions for trying the look yourself. Pinterest says guides may describe hairstyle, color, nail shape and finish, and may include questions to ask at a salon, what to expect during an appointment, similar looks, relevant products and step-by-step instructions. TechCrunch additionally reports that guides include time, price range and upkeep details, such as trimming, toning or touch-ups; those fields were not listed in Pinterest’s launch announcement.

What the guide can help you do
Explain the look at a salon
A guide may supply terminology that is useful when describing the Pin to a stylist or nail technician. TechCrunch cites terms such as “balayage,” “root melt” and “almond nails.” It may also suggest questions to ask and set expectations for an appointment, giving you a starting point for a conversation rather than leaving you to rely on the image alone.

Where Beauty Guides are available
At launch, Beauty Guides are available to iOS users in the United States. Pinterest says it plans to expand to more people and regions and add guides for additional product categories, but it has not announced a timetable. The launch feature covers hair and nails; Pinterest has not said that guides for other categories are live.
What Pinterest’s beauty figures do—and do not—show
In its October 6, 2026 launch announcement, Pinterest said more than 85% of its users discover new beauty trends and ideas on Pinterest before seeing them anywhere else. In the surrounding context, that figure refers to weekly users who have made beauty purchases. Pinterest also said its users are 79% more likely than a “competitive average” to say Pinterest’s beauty content feels extremely relevant, and nearly nine in 10 Pinterest users say they feel confident buying beauty products they discover on the platform.
