PICPAK is a small, battery-powered color E Ink photo frame from AutoHeart. Its static image needs no ongoing display power, and Hackster reports up to 400 days between charges from its 550mAh rechargeable battery. That is a published maximum, not an independently verified estimate for every use pattern.
How PICPAK’s E Ink display changes the power equation
Unlike a conventional LCD or LED frame that illuminates its screen, PICPAK uses a 4.2-inch color E Ink display. After an image is drawn, the display uses no energy to keep that image visible. The battery is still needed for operations such as changing the image and using Wi-Fi-connected features, so the frame is not power-free in use.
That design helps PICPAK look more like a printed photo and lets it operate without a permanent power cord. It also means the display experience differs from a bright, continuously lit screen: the available sources do not establish comparative brightness, color accuracy, refresh speed, or eye-comfort results.

Hackster reports a 550mAh rechargeable battery with up to 400 days of battery life. “Up to” is the important qualification: the sources do not provide a test protocol or specify how often the frame updates, how intensively Wi-Fi is used, or other conditions behind that maximum. Actual time between charges can therefore depend on use.

The long interval is plausible for a device that does not need to power its display continuously, but the 400-day figure should be treated as the manufacturer’s reported product claim as relayed by Hackster, not as a guarantee or independent test result. Hackster’s PICPAK coverage
What can PICPAK show besides photos?
Wi-Fi lets the frame download and display more than personal pictures. The listed examples include stock updates, recipes, news, and memes. Hackster also describes voice memos and to-do lists as possible productivity uses.

Those features make PICPAK closer to a compact, glanceable information display than a photo-only frame. The available product information does not specify supported services, setup steps, update schedules, or whether every content type is available in every region.

How many pictures can it store, and where can it go?
PICPAK weighs 69 grams and has internal storage for approximately 500–600 images, according to Hackster. Its fold-out stand supports freestanding placement, while magnetic backing offers another mounting option. The compact, pocketable design makes it easier to move than a typical frame intended to remain plugged into a wall.

Who is PICPAK for?
PICPAK is worth considering if you want a small, cordless display for a rotating photo or glanceable information and prefer an image that does not glow like a conventional screen. Its reported storage, stand, and magnetic backing suit flexible placement, while Wi-Fi features broaden its use beyond an album.
It is less straightforward to assess if your priority is vivid, continuously illuminated imagery, precise color performance, or a verified current purchase and support channel. The published product details do not answer those questions, so confirm the display characteristics and live sales terms directly with AutoHeart before buying.
