For travel from Islamabad to Beijing, a nonstop flight is usually the simpler choice if it operates on your date and the fare suits you. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a weekly Friday service starting October 30, 2026; Air China is also listed as a nonstop operator. A connection may make more sense if you cannot travel on a nonstop’s operating day, are departing from another Pakistani city, or are continuing beyond Beijing.
What nonstop flights are currently listed?
PIA’s latest reported plan is to resume Islamabad–Beijing–Islamabad flights every Friday from October 30, 2026. The announcement also says PIA’s cooperation with Air China and Shenzhen Airlines enables onward connections from Beijing to more than 25 cities in China. AeroRoutes lists the planned PIA outbound as PK854, departing Islamabad at 09:25 and arriving at Beijing Capital at 18:00. The return, PK855, is listed as leaving Beijing at 19:55 and arriving in Islamabad at 23:25. The schedule report identifies a Boeing 777-300ER. Earlier announcements gave different dates: Radio Pakistan reported a planned PIA resumption on July 3, 2026, while later reports describe the service returning October 30 after suspension from September 12. When is a nonstop the better choice?
You can travel on its operating day
The announced PIA service runs weekly on Fridays from October 30, 2026. If that day works, a nonstop removes the intermediate airport transfer and the need to manage a second flight. Check Air China’s exact-date availability as well; a route listing does not establish that a flight operates every day.

Beijing is your final destination
For a trip ending in Beijing, compare nonstop arrival times and the airport shown on each itinerary. The cited route listing and PIA schedule report refer to Beijing Capital (PEK); check the airport code on your booking rather than relying on the city name alone.
When should you consider a connection?
Your date does not match a nonstop
A weekly Friday option may not fit your plans. Search the exact travel date for connecting itineraries and compare the full journey, including total elapsed time and the length of each transfer. The available route evidence does not establish which connection is best or whether one will be cheaper.

You are starting outside Islamabad
The researched nonstop route is Islamabad–Beijing. It does not establish a complete current schedule of connections from Karachi, Lahore, or other Pakistani cities. For those origins, compare date-specific itineraries from your departure airport rather than assuming one city or airline offers the best route.
You are travelling onward within China
PIA says its partnerships with Air China and Shenzhen Airlines provide access from Beijing to more than 25 cities in China. That reported network access does not specify individual connection times or transfer rules. Check whether the itinerary is ticketed through to your final city, whether baggage is transferred, and what happens if a flight is delayed; confirm those details with the airline or booking agent.

How to compare the complete itineraries
- Search your actual origin, destination, and dates. A route’s general listing does not confirm service on your chosen day.
- Compare total journey time. Include the connection wait and any airport change shown in the itinerary, not only the time spent in the air.
- Check the total fare and ticket conditions. Compare baggage allowance, change and refund terms, and whether all flight segments are on one ticket. Current fares and baggage terms were not established in the cited reports.
- Confirm the transfer arrangements. For a connection, verify the transfer airport, connection time, baggage handling, and whether you need to check in again with the airline or agent.
- Verify the operating flight before booking. PIA’s October 30 start date is an announcement, and schedules can change. Check availability and timings for the exact date through PIA, Air China, or the booking channel you use.
