Photosen may suit photographers who want a dark, image-led portfolio built with Bootstrap, but there is no independent comparison establishing it as the “best” template. Colorlib’s listing describes a portfolio homepage, responsive layout, dropdown navigation, social links and a contact form. Its current release notes also describe a Bootstrap 5 update, GLightbox galleries and other changes. Those are publisher-stated features, not independently verified test results.
What is Photosen?
Photosen is a downloadable HTML website template, not a hosted portfolio service or a visual site builder. Colorlib presents it as a dark portfolio for photographers, including people starting a project and established professionals. The listing names Colorlib as the author and is dated September 29, 2026. View the Photosen listing.
Because it is a template, you use it as a starting point for a website that you publish on your own hosting. The listing does not describe Photosen as a content management system, client gallery platform, or ecommerce and print-fulfillment tool.

Colorlib’s product page describes these features:
#1 Best Overall
- A portfolio-focused homepage.
- A multi-level dropdown menu and social-media links.
- A contact form described as functional.
- A layout described as responsive across screen sizes.
- A gallery that, according to the version 2.0.0 notes, uses GLightbox.
The version 2.0.0 description also says the template was updated to Bootstrap 5, had jQuery removed, and received optimized assets, WebP images with automatic fallback, Google Analytics 4 integration, unique page titles, and bug fixes. Colorlib says the update made the template “49% smaller,” but the listing does not provide an independent benchmark or test method. Treat this as a publisher claim, not a verified speed result. These feature and release details are from Colorlib’s Photosen page; compatibility, configuration, accessibility, SEO performance and real-world behavior have not been independently established here.
Is Photosen responsive, and is it the best choice?
Colorlib says Photosen is responsive, but that statement is not an independent device or browser test. If responsive behavior is essential, inspect the actual template at the screen sizes and browsers your audience uses before committing to a build.

“Best” depends on what the site needs to do. The available sources do not provide a head-to-head evaluation, so they cannot establish Photosen as the best dark portfolio template in 2026. It is a plausible candidate if you want a dark, image-led presentation and are comfortable building and maintaining a Bootstrap-based site. Compare it with alternatives on these practical points:
- Platform: downloadable HTML and Bootstrap versus a hosted visual builder or CMS.
- Portfolio workflow: whether you need only a gallery or also content management, filtering, client proofing or ecommerce.
- Implementation: how the contact form, gallery interactions, analytics and responsive layout work in the version you plan to use.
- Rights and support: permitted domains, client-site use, update access and support duration.
- Total cost: the template or membership price, plus hosting and any development work needed to launch.
What license does Photosen use?
The product listing displays “CC BY 3.0,” while Colorlib’s separate license page describes paid template plans with their own usage terms. Those statements should not be treated as proof that every part of the download—including third-party libraries, fonts, icons and preview images—has one identical license. Check the LICENSE.md included with the download and the terms for bundled components before using the template commercially. Read Colorlib’s license information.
Rank #3
For its paid plans, Colorlib says buyers may use a template on their own and clients’ websites, modify it, and remove Colorlib credit, subject to the plan’s domain and duration limits. The license page prohibits reselling, sublicensing, sharing or giving away the template—including a modified version—as a template or starter kit, and prohibits publishing source files for others to download. Colorlib also says third-party libraries, fonts and icons retain their own licenses, and demo photos are for preview only and should be replaced before publication. Confirm the terms that apply to the specific download you purchase.
How much does Photosen cost?
Colorlib’s license page listed these options as observed on October 7, 2026. Prices and plan terms can change, so confirm them on the publisher’s page before purchase.

These are the publisher’s plan listings, not a guarantee that every plan grants identical rights for every bundled asset. Review the current license and the included LICENSE.md when choosing a plan.
Who should consider Photosen?
Photosen is worth considering if you want a dark portfolio design, are prepared to work with a downloadable Bootstrap template, and do not need a built-in hosted publishing or ecommerce service. It is a weaker fit if your priority is a managed portfolio platform, verified accessibility or performance results, or a documented workflow for client proofing and print sales; the reviewed listing does not establish those capabilities.
