The Philips DE5205 is a 2-in-1 dehumidifier and air purifier, but its extraction rating depends on the exact regional model and the conditions used to measure it. Philips lists a 4 L tank for the cited variants and a purifier-only mode; its specifications do not establish real-world noise, energy use, or comparative performance. Check the suffix on your unit before judging its capacity, electrical fit, or replacement filter.
What the Philips DE5205 does
Philips describes the Series 5000 DE5205 as a combined air purifier and dehumidifier. Listed operating modes include automatic, laundry-dry, continuous-dry, and purifier-only. Depending on the suffix, specifications also list humidity settings or numerical humidity feedback, an air-quality indicator ring, a HEPA filter with prefilter, child lock, timer, and wheels. These are manufacturer-listed features, not independent test findings.
The dual function is useful if you want one appliance that addresses dampness and airborne particles, or that can run as a purifier without dehumidifying. It does not make the capacity figures directly comparable across every DE5205 listing: the model suffix and rating conditions matter.

How much water can it remove?
Philips publishes different extraction figures for different variants and test conditions. For the DE5205/39, its October 2023 specification gives 25 L/day at 35°C and 90% relative humidity, and 12.75 L/day at 26.7°C and 60% relative humidity. Philips lists 12.7 L/day for the DE5205/10 without those conditions on the cited regional product page. The DE5205/30 specification lists 25 L/day, tested under GB/T 19411-2003 at 35°C and 90% RH.

These are Philips ratings under stated or manufacturer-published conditions, not a promise that the appliance will collect the same volume in a cooler or drier home. For a useful comparison with another dehumidifier, compare extraction figures measured at the same temperature and humidity rather than choosing whichever model has the largest headline number.
What the 4 L tank means in practice
Philips lists a 4 L water tank for the cited DE5205/30 and DE5205/39 variants. Tank capacity is the amount the reservoir can hold, not the unit’s daily extraction rate. If the appliance is collecting water quickly, you may need to empty it more than once a day; the precise interval depends on conditions and actual extraction. Check the manual for your suffix for tank handling and any drainage options rather than assuming arrangements are identical across markets.

How the air purification claims should be read
Philips lists a particle clean-air delivery rate (CADR) of 270 m³/h for the cited DE5205/30 and DE5205/39 specifications. The DE5205/39 document also gives a purification room size of up to 70 m² under NRCC and states filtration down to 0.02 microns, with 99.9% virus/aerosol and bacteria filtration claims. These are manufacturer claims tied to its stated specifications and test context; they are not evidence that the appliance prevents infection or guarantees uniform air cleaning throughout a particular room.

Filter replacement and upkeep
For the cited variants, Philips names FY1119 as the replacement HEPA filter and recommends replacement up to every 12 months. Treat that interval as manufacturer guidance, not a guaranteed service life. Confirm the precise filter designation and local availability against your appliance’s suffix and manual before ordering.

Power, dimensions, and market-specific details
The DE5205/10 regional page lists 220 V, 50 Hz, 355 W, a 4 L tank, a 1.6 m cord, and 12.7 L/day dehumidification. Philips’ cited DE5205/30 and DE5205/39 specifications also list maximum power consumption of 355 W, while the DE5205/39 document lists a 1.8 m cord. Do not assume these values apply to every suffix or market. Maximum power is a specification, not a measurement of typical electricity use over time.

What this review can—and cannot—establish
The available Philips documents establish product features and manufacturer ratings, but not independent hands-on performance. They do not establish a measured noise level, actual water extraction in a typical home, real-world energy use, or superiority over a competitor. A sound comparison would need independent measurements taken under comparable conditions, particularly for extraction, noise, and energy use.
Philips states in its DE5205/39 specification that “Specifications are subject to change without notice.” Treat product documents as a guide to the version they describe and confirm the details for the exact unit being sold.
