The Philips 3000 Series DE3306/71 is a refrigeration (compressor) dehumidifier with a 4 L tank, a manufacturer-stated maximum extraction of 34.3 L/day and a 150 m³ room-size rating. Those headline figures come from Philips’ own test and calculation conditions. The independent information that is free to read is limited to a retailer-style review listing, so this review separates what Philips publishes from what has been independently verified.

What the 34.3 L/day figure does and does not mean
The test conditions behind the headline rate
The specification sheet states that the maximum extraction rate was tested by a certified third party under GB/T 19411-2003 at 35°C and 90% relative humidity. That is a hot, very humid, maximum-performance test. It tells you the machine’s ceiling under those conditions, not how much water a typical household will collect. Actual collection depends on room temperature, humidity, ventilation, the amount of moisture being released into the air, and the settings you choose. Treat 34.3 L/day as a best-case figure.

The 150 m³ room-size rating
The 150 m³ figure is a manufacturer calculation based on JEM1411:1998 assumptions and a 2.5 m ceiling. At that ceiling height, 150 m³ equals a floor area of 60 m². A room of that size with a steady, moderate moisture load is a very different job from a 60 m² space that has a bathroom door open, a drying rack running and occupants breathing. The rating is a sizing guide, not a guarantee.
The quick humidity-change claim
The product page’s claim about how quickly humidity drops is conditional. The specification sheet’s detailed note describes a calculation or test in a 20 m³ room, starting at 60% relative humidity and 27°C. The same note warns that ventilation, moisture release and absorption, and temperature change all affect the result. Use it as a comparison point between dehumidifiers tested the same way, not as a time estimate for your own room.

Operating modes and laundry drying
The unit offers the following modes:
- Manual: you choose the fan speed and one of the four humidity levels.
- Auto: the unit manages humidity for you.
- Continuous Dry: a setting aimed at keeping the space continuously dry.
- Laundry: intended to speed indoor drying of clothes.
- Auto Swing: moves the airflow across the room.
Philips says that in its own test, Laundry mode dried 20 synthetic T-shirts in under two hours. That is a manufacturer claim for one tested load. The sources reviewed do not show results for cotton, thick fabrics, full loads or rooms with different humidity, so do not assume the same timing for your washing. The Laundry mode also runs the dehumidifier in a drying role, which means it will fill the tank faster than a room that is simply being kept at a set humidity.
Noise in a bedroom or home office
Philips lists a sound level of 45–51 dB(A). The sources reviewed do not state the measurement distance or the fan speed behind that range, so it cannot be compared directly with a noise figure measured another way. Owner comments on the Philips page and on a retailer listing describe the noise differently; some reviewers find it unobtrusive and others notice it. Treat those comments as anecdotes. If quiet operation matters to you, check the fan speed you intend to run, place the unit away from where you sleep if you can, and look for an independent noise measurement before buying.

Tank, drainage and moving the unit
The 4 L tank is the main limit on unattended operation. Public sources do not publish a reliable emptying interval, because the time between emptyings depends on how much moisture the room is producing and which humidity level you select. The full-tank alert and automatic shutoff prevent overflow, but they do not keep the unit running. For longer, unattended operation, the specification sheet lists a drainage hose as included. Check how the hose attaches and where it has to run before you plan to use continuous drainage, because the sources reviewed do not describe the hose set-up in detail.
At 13.8 kg, the unit is heavy enough that the castors matter when you move it between rooms. The 1.8 m cord limits where you can place it without an extension lead, which is not recommended for a unit with a 258 W maximum draw.

Aroma dispenser and FY5100 pads
The unit has an aroma dispenser and the specification sheet lists three pads in the box. Philips support lists FY5100/00 original aroma pads for the DE3306 family on its Italian support page for the DE3306/11. The pads are a fragrance option only. They do not change how the unit dehumidifies, and you do not need them to use the dehumidifier.

What independent evidence is available
CHOICE’s listing for the exact DE3306/71 classifies the model as a refrigeration dehumidifier. It repeats the 34.3 L/day claimed rate, lists an operating range of 5–35°C, gives a weight of 14 kg (rounded) and states a two-year warranty. At the time it was checked, the listing showed a price of AUD 729. Prices change, so confirm the current price with a retailer.

These counts and ratings change over time, and owner reports are not controlled tests, so they are useful for spotting recurring themes rather than measuring performance.
Checklist before you buy
- Compare extraction at matched conditions. Look for the test standard and temperature and humidity used, not the headline litres per day alone.
- Check the room-size method. Compare the volume and the moisture load of your space with the assumptions behind the rating.
- Check the noise source. Distinguish a manufacturer range from an independent measurement, and note the fan speed used.
- Estimate energy use at your conditions. Maximum power and standby figures are not the same as running cost.
- Compare tank size with your drainage plan. A 4 L tank suits short sessions; continuous drainage needs a hose route.
- Test the laundry mode claim against your load. Fabric type, load size and room conditions all change drying time.
- Check weight, wheels and cord length against where the unit will sit.
- Confirm warranty, local voltage, service and price with the seller before purchase.
