The Philips 27E1N1600AE combines a 27-inch QHD IPS screen with USB-C video, up to 65 W charging, a small USB hub and an adjustable stand. It looks promising for office work and general use, but its limited inputs and lack of wide-gamut color matter. Check the model suffix on the listing before relying on its refresh rate: Philips documents 100 Hz for the /00 version and 120 Hz for /01.
What the Philips 27E1N1600AE offers
Philips specifies a 27-inch, 16:9 IPS panel with a 2560 × 1440 QHD resolution. The company lists 350 cd/m² brightness and 1500:1 typical contrast for both the /00 and /01 specification sheets. The older /00 sheet also specifies 123.41 pixels per inch, 4 ms gray-to-gray response, a matte anti-glare surface, adaptive sync and HDR10 support. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
The central convenience is a USB-C connection that can carry video and data while supplying up to 65 W of Power Delivery. Philips’s /01 sheet describes connecting a notebook with one USB-C cable. That can reduce cable clutter for a compatible laptop, though the monitor’s other connections remain limited.
Does the Philips 27E1N1600AE support 120 Hz?
It depends on the suffix. Philips’s /00 product sheet, dated 2023-12-28, lists a maximum refresh rate of 100 Hz. The newer /01 sheet, version 13.13.1 and issued 2026-06-05, lists 2560 × 1440 at 120 Hz. ITPro’s 2026-03-13 business-monitor guide also describes the model at 100 Hz, but does not resolve the suffix difference.
#1 Best Overall
Check the complete model number and specifications for the exact regional listing you plan to buy. Philips notes that specifications may change and products or accessories can vary by country and region; the newer sheet does not establish that every 27E1N1600AE listing is a 120 Hz version.
USB-C compatibility and charging
USB-C video works only if the connected laptop or device supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. Charging through the monitor also depends on the host supporting USB-C Power Delivery. Philips states both compatibility requirements in its /01 specifications. A USB-C-shaped port alone does not guarantee video output or charging.

With a compatible host, the monitor can send video, transfer data through its USB hub and provide up to 65 W of charging over USB-C. Confirm that the laptop’s power needs suit that output; the published specification establishes the monitor’s maximum delivery, not that it will meet every laptop’s charging requirement.

The documented connections include HDMI 1.4, USB-C, two USB-A downstream ports and a 3.5 mm audio output. One USB-A port supports BC 1.2 fast charging. ITPro identifies the lack of a DisplayPort input and the two-port USB-A hub as drawbacks.

- Refresh Rate: Up to 120Hz | Response Time: 1ms VRB | Brightness: 250 nits | Pixel Pitch: 0.311mm
This is a workable selection if your setup uses HDMI or USB-C video and you only need to connect a couple of USB accessories. It is less suitable if you need DisplayPort, several permanently connected peripherals or a more flexible desktop docking setup.
Image quality: office-focused, not wide-gamut
ITPro’s published summary describes the monitor’s sRGB image quality as good. It reports measured contrast of 1509:1 and peak brightness of 333 cd/m², and says the matte anti-glare coating was effective against reflections. ITPro also identifies backlighting as a weak point in its assessment and notes that the monitor does not support wide-gamut color.

Those measurements and judgments belong to ITPro; they are not a complete test record for this article. The available summary does not establish measured response time, screen uniformity, HDR performance or gaming performance. For routine documents, browsing and general productivity, the stated resolution and sRGB assessment are encouraging. For color-critical work that requires a wide gamut, look for a monitor whose gamut coverage is explicitly suited to that workflow.
Stand adjustment and mounting
Philips’s /01 sheet lists a stand with 100 mm of height adjustment and tilt, plus a 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting pattern. Height adjustment is useful for positioning the screen without relying on a riser; VESA compatibility allows use with a suitable arm or wall mount. Check the mount’s rated load and compatibility before attaching the display. The /00 specification sheet’s cited details do not establish that every suffix or regional package includes identical stand features.
Should you buy the Philips 27E1N1600AE?
Consider it if you want a QHD IPS screen for office and general use, value a single-cable USB-C setup, and can verify that your laptop supports USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery. The adjustable stand and basic USB hub add practical flexibility.
Look elsewhere if your work needs wide-gamut color, your desktop requires DisplayPort, or you need more USB-A connections. A current price, availability and comparison against local alternatives are not established by the cited specifications and review summary, so judge value against the actual listing in your region rather than the historical £200 reference in ITPro’s article.
