Tristan Broz was reassigned to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on October 1, 2026, after being removed from non-roster injured reserve, CBS Sports reported. The report noted a lower-body issue but did not give a diagnosis or recovery timetable. The transaction confirms his assignment to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton; it does not establish when he will play or whether he will be called up to Pittsburgh.
What happened to Tristan Broz?
CBS Sports reported on October 1, 2026, that Pittsburgh removed Broz from non-roster injured reserve and reassigned him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, its American Hockey League affiliate. A CBS Sports transaction listing also records the assignment that day. CBS Sports’ report and team transaction listing document the move.
What is known about his injury?
The CBS Sports report described Broz’s issue as lower-body related. It did not identify a specific injury, say whether he was fully healthy when reassigned, or provide a return-to-play date. The roster move alone does not answer those questions.

Broz’s contract and college background
Pittsburgh announced on April 20, 2024, that Broz had signed a three-year entry-level contract. The Penguins identified him at the time as their 2021 second-round pick, 58th overall. In 2023-24, his second season at Denver, the team said he recorded 16 goals, 24 assists and 40 points in 43 games and helped Denver win the NCAA championship. The Penguins also listed his career college totals at signing as 32 goals, 47 assists and 79 points in 119 games. These are historical figures, not current-season results. Pittsburgh’s contract announcement contains those details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the reassignment mean Broz is playing or returning to Pittsburgh?
No. Reassignment places Broz with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but it does not confirm his availability for a particular game, that he has recovered fully, or when he might return to the NHL. An October 2, 2026, opening-night roster announcement on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton site does not, in the available information, establish Broz’s inclusion or game availability. His next appearance and any future call-up remain unconfirmed.
