Managed service providers (MSPs) helped shape parts of Pax8’s marketplace roadmap, according to Rob Rae, the company’s senior vice president of community and partner experience. In a September 2025 interview, Rae said partner ideas prompted changes to the roadmap and that Pax8 wanted to make the marketplace a more complete place for MSPs to transact, discover features, and access partner programs.
How MSP feedback influenced Pax8’s roadmap
Rae told CRN on September 24, 2025, “Partner feedback is always critical.” He said some partner suggestions led Pax8 to redesign parts of its roadmap, including aspects of the marketplace refresh in June 2025. The interview is the source for these claims; the available material does not independently verify the specific changes.
Rae described the marketplace as a way to make transactions easier for both MSPs and their customers: “Creating a place that makes it easy for MSPs to transact, and for their customers to transact through them, just makes sense.” His account frames partner input as a contributor to product direction, rather than simply feedback collected after features are built.
Why Pax8 was emphasizing marketplace features
Rae said some partners had moved to the marketplace but were not using all its features. Pax8 was therefore focusing on best practices and helping partners discover what the platform could do. That points to an adoption challenge as well as a product-design one: adding capabilities does not ensure partners know about them or incorporate them into their day-to-day work.

Rae also said Pax8’s partner count had grown from around 35,000 to 42,000. Those figures were reported in the 2025 interview and are Rae’s account; the interview does not provide an independent audit or explain the measurement method. Rae said new partners were onboarding directly into the marketplace experience.
The plan to bring more partner tools and programs together
Rae described a broader goal of centralizing the partner experience in the marketplace. The items he named included professional services, partner rewards, and guided growth, alongside the marketplace’s commerce functions. The intended direction was to bring tools and programs together in one experience, rather than require partners to navigate separate destinations.
Rae said, “This is what we do best. This is the only thing we do. And it makes sense to build partnerships around that.” This was his explanation of Pax8’s focus on building partner relationships around its marketplace role, not evidence that every named program had already been integrated or was available to every partner.

Pax8’s current marketplace page describes a cloud software marketplace serving MSPs and vendors, displays software categories, and invites vendors to apply. That is useful context for the platform’s role, but the page does not independently confirm the roadmap statements Rae made in 2025. It also does not establish that Pax8 offers an affiliate or referral program, commissions, or tracking links.

AI-agent training was a proposal, not a confirmed current offering
Rae previewed a training track for MSPs on building AI agents. He said the track would be packaged for global use if its pilot succeeded: “If this is successful, we’ll package it up and take it global.” The interview establishes that this was an announced plan, but the sources available do not establish whether the training launched or remains available.

Pax8 reported a 96% increase in order value among partners consistently using Marketplace tools, based on the company’s internal data in 2025. This is a company-reported marketing figure, not an independently verified result or a typical outcome guaranteed for an individual MSP. The reported association concerns partners actively and consistently using Marketplace tools; it should not be read as proof that marketplace use alone caused the increase.
