Panasonic’s DMR-4X1010 combines a 10TB hard drive, 4K broadcast recording and Ultra HD Blu-ray playback—but it is a Japan-market recorder, not a confirmed US product. Panasonic’s announcement dated September 14, 2026, scheduled its release from late October 2026. The official information available as of October 3, 2026, does not establish US availability, pricing, warranty coverage or compatibility with US broadcasts.
What the DMR-4X1010 does
The DMR-4X1010 is an All-Automatic DIGA recorder that can record supported broadcasts to its internal hard drive or supported BD-R and BD-RE discs, and play Ultra HD Blu-ray movies. Those are distinct capabilities: Panasonic’s specifications establish UHD Blu-ray playback, not the ability to record or author UHD movie discs.
Panasonic lists a 10TB internal HDD and multiple 4K broadcast recording modes. Its overview describes automatic recording configurations of up to eight HD channels for about 28 days, or one 4K channel for about 13 days, or two HD channels for about 13 days. These are Panasonic’s stated estimates for those configurations, not independent test results. The specifications estimate about 390 hours in 4KDR mode; compression modes offer different recording times. Panasonic’s product overview and detailed specifications provide the model’s figures and recording formats.

| Capability | What Panasonic specifies |
|---|---|
| Internal storage | 10TB HDD |
| Automatic recording estimate | Up to eight HD channels for about 28 days; alternatively, one 4K channel or two HD channels for about 13 days, according to Panasonic’s overview |
| 4KDR estimate | About 390 hours, per Panasonic’s specifications; other modes have different recording times |
| Optical recording media | Supported BD-RE media up to 100GB and BD-R media up to 128GB, subject to the formats and versions Panasonic lists |
| Movie-disc playback | Ultra HD Blu-ray playback |
Why “4K Blu-ray recorder” needs a qualification
The phrase can suggest a machine that records 4K movies onto UHD Blu-ray discs. The documented feature set is narrower: the unit records broadcasts to its HDD and specified recordable Blu-ray media, while UHD Blu-ray is listed as a playback format. Do not assume it can create or copy UHD movie discs.

Why US compatibility is unconfirmed
Panasonic’s specification lists NTSC video signal format and tuner categories for Japanese terrestrial, BS/CS and BS/CS 4K broadcasts. Those details describe the Japan-market model; they do not establish that its tuners can receive US broadcasts. The official product materials reviewed also do not confirm a US launch, US price, US warranty or support for US broadcast standards. A signal-format label alone is not enough to determine tuner compatibility.
For Panasonic’s Japan-market lineup context, see its 4K tuner model comparison. It should not be treated as a comparison of US-market recorders or evidence of US pricing.

What to check before considering an import
- Broadcast system: Confirm that the exact model can tune the broadcasts you receive; the Japan-specific tuner listing is not proof of US compatibility.
- Recording needs: Compare tuner count and simultaneous recording capability, HDD capacity, recording modes and whether recordings can be moved to supported optical media.
- Disc use: Separate UHD Blu-ray movie playback from recording broadcasts to BD-R or BD-RE.
- Cloud terms: Verify service availability, accounts, capacity and retention rules for your location.
- Ownership support: Confirm local warranty, servicing and any regional restrictions with the seller and manufacturer before purchase.
