Pocketpair communications and publishing head John “Bucky” Buckley reportedly considers Palfarm the “true spin-off” of Palworld—not the dating-sim project More Than Just Pals. Buckley described the latter as “just a little goofy thing,” according to GamesRadar+, which attributed his comments to the official Palworld Discord.
Why Buckley calls Palfarm the true spin-off
Buckley’s distinction rests on how closely a project stays connected to the original game. As quoted by GamesRadar+ on October 5, 2026, he said: “Most gamers will consider a spin-off to be very in-line and thematically similar to the original Palworld with some notable twist or gimmick.” He then added: “To that end, really I would only consider Palfarm the true spin-off.”
Under that personal test, Palfarm is the closer fit: GamesRadar+ describes it as a farming-focused project, keeping it nearer to Palworld in theme and gameplay than a dating sim. “True spin-off” is Buckley’s framing, not a formal label established for the games or a universal definition the industry must use.

GamesRadar+ describes More Than Just Pals as a dating-sim project and quotes Buckley calling it “just a little goofy thing.” His remarks cast it as a playful project fundamentally different in kind from Palworld, rather than a close variation on the original game. That describes his view of its relationship to Palworld; it does not establish the project’s budget, scope, release timing, or intended audience.

What else the report says about Pocketpair’s projects
The same GamesRadar+ report mentions Palworld Online, described as an MMO, and says Buckley disputed the idea that four spin-offs were in development. These are details from the report’s snapshot of his comments, not independent confirmation of Pocketpair’s complete project slate.
GamesRadar+ attributes Buckley’s remarks to the official Palworld Discord. The underlying Discord posts were not independently verified for this account, so the quotations and project descriptions should be understood as the outlet’s reporting. The report does not establish release dates, platforms, or purchase options for these projects.
