Golden State beat Dallas 77–73 in the deciding game of the 2026 WNBA first-round series, according to the contemporaneous Game 3 discussion thread. That result alone does not establish that Paige Bueckers “disappeared in the clutch”: the available material does not provide an official Game 3 box score or clutch-period play-by-play. The headline’s “WNBA James Harden” comparison is likewise not substantiated as a nickname or a fair statistical conclusion.
Why Game 3 decided the Wings–Valkyries series
The WNBA’s 2026 first round was a best-of-three format, so Game 3 was the series decider. Dallas had forced the extra game with a 108–100 overtime win in Game 2, as reported on October 1. The league’s playoff format is described on the WNBA 2026 Playoffs page.
In the Game 3 thread, fans reported a 77–73 Golden State win on October 2. Because that thread is user-generated rather than an official league box score, the score and individual Game 3 statistics should be treated as reported there, not independently verified official figures.
Do the available numbers show Bueckers disappeared in the clutch?
No verified Game 3 clutch-period line or play-by-play is available in the cited material to establish that claim. A clutch-performance judgment would require details such as the score and time remaining, who took or made shots during those possessions, turnovers, defensive assignments, and the official game record. Without that evidence, “disappearing in the clutch” is an interpretation in a provocative headline, not a demonstrated statistical finding.

One statistic that can be easily misattributed belongs to Game 2: an October 1 report says Bueckers scored 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting. That line is not her Game 3 performance. The same report describes Dallas’s 108–100 overtime win that forced the decider. See the October 1 Indiana SRN SportsPage report.
Game 2’s headline performances are not Game 3 statistics
The series-turning Game 2 produced two striking individual totals, but neither should be used to characterize what happened in the deciding game.

| Player | Game 2 figure | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Arike Ogunbowale | 45 points | Described by the Valkyries as a WNBA playoff record; Game 2, 2026. |
| Gabby Williams | 36 points | Described by the Valkyries as a career best; Game 2, 2026. |
Both figures are identified in the Golden State Valkyries’ Game 3 preview. They belong to the game Dallas won to extend the series, not to Game 3.
Did fans mock Bueckers, and is “WNBA James Harden” an established label?
The located Game 3 post-game discussion includes criticism of Bueckers as well as comments defending her or citing defensive attention and team context. That is evidence of mixed reactions in one online thread, not proof that fans broadly or uniformly mocked her. Reddit discussions are anecdotal and do not measure the views of all WNBA fans.

The “WNBA James Harden” phrase appears in the assignment’s headline framing, but the cited material does not establish it as an accepted nickname or substantiate a specific comparison. It should not be presented as a fact about Bueckers. Readers can see the discussion in the Game 3 post-game thread; its comments should be understood as individual reactions.

- The Game 3 discussion thread reports a 77–73 Valkyries win, but it is not an official box score.
- The 10-point, 3-of-13 line for Bueckers and the 45- and 36-point performances cited above are Game 2 figures.
- The available sources show differing fan reactions, but do not establish a broad fan consensus or prove the “disappearing in the clutch” claim.
