ZDI’s pre-event schedule described a potential payout of more than $1 million if all entries succeeded. That was a projection, not the completed event total. During the contest, ZDI updated the running figures as attempts concluded and it corrected an early Day One count.

Event dates, venue and targets
The contest took place October 22–25, 2024, at Trend Micro’s Cork offices. ZDI’s later retrospective says participation was onsite. Its recaps featured targets across connected-home, surveillance, printer, mobile and network-attached storage categories; one specifically named target was the Sonos Era 300 smart speaker. These are examples of contest targets, not assessments of their present-day security or patch status.

ZDI’s 2025 annual retrospective reported more than $3.5 million awarded for 148 unique zero-days across all Pwn2Own events in 2024. That figure provides broader annual context; it is not an Ireland-only amount and should not be compared with a single event’s pre-contest prize projection. The Ireland figure above is the final amount ZDI reported for that contest.
