Developed by Nine Dots Studio and published by Prime Matter and Deep Silver, Outward Definitive Edition launched on May 17, 2022. Steam describes it as an RPG that combines open-world travel and dungeon exploration with survival systems. You visit cities, take on missions and face combat threats while managing environmental conditions, disease, sleep and hydration. The setting is Aurai.

Is Outward worth buying for under $2?
At a verified price below $2, the Definitive Edition offers a low-cost way to try a game built around deliberate exploration and survival management. Whether the game suits you depends more on its survival-focused approach than on its review percentage. Its systems require attention to sleep, hydration, disease and environmental hazards alongside combat. If you want a straightforward action RPG with survival needs kept out of the way, that design may be a poor fit; if managing travel and survival is part of the appeal, the low promotional price may make it easier to take a chance.
What do the 72% positive reviews mean?
The headline figure should be treated as a snapshot, not a lasting rating for every edition. Eprison.de displayed 72.86% positive for Outward, based on 12,366 positive and 4,607 negative reviews (eprison.de’s Outward page). Steam’s Definitive Edition listing showed 73% positive English reviews and labeled the rating “Mostly Positive” when observed on October 4, 2026 (Steam listing). The figures are close, but they refer to different pages and review datasets; percentages can change over time.

Can you play Outward solo or in co-op?
Steam lists both single-player and co-op support. That gives you the choice to explore Aurai alone or play with another person. The available listing confirms these modes but does not establish further details such as player limits or the specific co-op setup, so check the current Steam page if those details matter to your purchase.
