The OSCAL PowerMax 1800 SE stores 1,024Wh of energy and is rated to deliver up to 1,800W of continuous AC power. That makes it a plausible option for camping, road trips, and short-duration backup, but it is not a whole-home battery: it is non-expandable, and its maximum charging input is 800W. Whether it is a good value depends on your appliances, local-voltage model, current price, and tolerance for the charging and runtime-estimate limitations observed in a review of the European 230V version.

What the PowerMax 1800 SE offers

The “1800” in the name refers to the station’s rated AC output in watts, not its battery capacity. The SE holds 1,024Wh in a LiFePO4 battery. Watts describe how much power it can supply at a given moment; watt-hours describe stored energy and, approximately, how long a load can run before accounting for conversion losses and operating conditions.

Notebookcheck’s 2026 review covers the European 230V version. It lists 1,800W continuous AC output and 3,600W peak output, along with three AC outlets. Peak output is not the same as continuous capacity: a device that needs more than 1,800W while running may exceed the station’s rating even if its brief startup surge falls within the reported peak figure. Check the appliance’s running and startup requirements against the exact regional unit before connecting it.

The manual specifies more than 80% battery capacity after 3,500 cycles. That is a manufacturer specification, not a longevity result established by Notebookcheck’s review.

Which devices can it power, and for how long?

First check whether each device’s power draw fits the station’s output rating; then estimate how much of the 1,024Wh capacity its runtime will consume. A 1,000W load running for one hour would use 1,000Wh before losses, so the station cannot be expected to run it for a full hour in practice. Actual runtime varies with load, inverter losses, battery condition, and operating conditions.

A refrigerator is not a fixed-size load: its compressor cycles, and startup demand can be higher than its average draw. For a backup plan, use the appliance’s power information and measure or estimate its energy use over the time you need it to run. Add the other devices you expect to use, and leave room for conversion losses rather than treating the full rated capacity as usable AC energy.

The station’s ports provide several ways to power smaller equipment directly:

  • AC: Three outlets on the reviewed European model; the review lists 1,800W continuous output and a 3,600W peak.
  • USB-C: Two ports, up to 100W per port.
  • USB-A: Two ports, rated at 15W and 18W.
  • 12V car outlet: Rated at 120W.
  • DC5521: Two ports; the manual lists 72W total.

Port ratings are limits, not promises that every connected device will draw that amount. When several devices run at once, check the manual for the applicable combined-output limits and match each device to the correct port.

Charging speed and solar input

The maximum charging input is 800W for AC and solar charging, according to the manual. Maximum input does not mean the station will draw that power continuously or recharge at the same speed in every situation. Notebookcheck’s reviewer observed a full AC charge taking a little over 90 minutes. In its AC charging efficiency test, more than 1,160Wh entered the station and a little over 88% of the supplied energy reached the battery; those are measurements from that review’s test, not guaranteed results for every unit or charging setup.

The manual gives a solar-input range of 10–60V and a maximum current of 20A. Confirm that a panel’s voltage and current fall within those limits and that its connector and polarity match the station before connecting it. OSCAL’s official store has displayed SE bundles with PM200 and PM400 Plus panels, but bundle listings alone do not establish that every panel or configuration is compatible or currently available.

Portability, expansion, and care

The SE manual lists a weight of approximately 14.35kg and dimensions of 420 × 238 × 256mm. It is movable for car camping or between storage and a vehicle, but that weight is worth considering if you will carry it any distance. Do not use specifications from the separate PowerMax 1800 model as if they described the SE.

Notebookcheck lists the PowerMax 1800 SE as non-expandable. OSCAL’s BP1800 expansion pack is described for the separate PowerMax 1800 model; the available information does not establish compatibility with the SE.

The manual’s stated temperature limits are:

  • Charging: 0°C to 45°C.
  • Discharging: -10°C to 45°C.
  • Storage: -10°C to 45°C, with 20°C to 30°C described as ideal.

The manual also recommends charging, discharging, and recharging the station every six months and advises against leaving it fully drained for an extended period. For safety and region-specific limits, follow the manual supplied with the exact unit you buy.

What the independent review found

Notebookcheck’s reviewer described the European 230V unit as compact and noted its port selection, LED light, and UPS functionality among its strengths. The review also identified drawbacks: the 800W maximum charging rate, a basic app, and a beep that could not be disabled. These observations reflect the reviewed unit and its test conditions; they do not establish that every unit or firmware version behaves identically.

The reviewer found the displayed AC output higher than a measuring device showed at one tested load condition, which raises a practical concern about relying on the displayed remaining-runtime estimate. Notebookcheck also measured charging noise at around 44dB and discharge noise sometimes above 50dB at full load, at a distance of one metre. These are reviewer measurements, not universal noise guarantees.

Price, availability, and regional differences

Notebookcheck lists a $699.99 MSRP and says the station is often available for less from OSCAL and Amazon. OSCAL’s official store displayed a $499.99 price against a $699.99 comparison price when checked in 2026, but the listed variants were marked sold out. Those prices and stock status are time-sensitive; check the seller’s current offer before buying.

The independent test concerns a 230V European model. Do not assume its AC voltage, plugs, or performance findings apply unchanged to a unit sold in another region. Confirm the voltage, outlet type, charging specifications, and warranty for the exact local version. The manual hosted online should also be checked against the documentation supplied with that unit.

Who should consider the PowerMax 1800 SE?

It may suit

  • Campers and road-trippers who want around 1kWh of stored energy, several device ports, and the option of AC or solar charging.
  • People seeking limited backup for selected devices, after checking appliance draw, startup demands, and expected runtime.
  • Buyers who can accept a 14.35kg station, an 800W maximum input, and no expansion path.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need more than 1,800W of continuous AC output or more stored energy than the fixed 1,024Wh capacity can provide.
  • You need a battery that can be expanded later, or you depend on fast charging beyond the station’s 800W maximum input.
  • Your use requires a quiet device or a highly dependable remaining-runtime display; the review reported noise under load and a discrepancy between displayed output and a measuring device at one tested load.

How to compare it with another station

Compare like with like rather than relying on a product name or headline wattage. The details that matter most are:

  • Stored capacity in Wh and continuous AC output in W, with surge rating treated separately.
  • AC voltage and plug format for the model sold in your region.
  • Maximum AC and solar input, plus independently observed recharge time under stated conditions.
  • Port count and per-port limits, total weight, and whether expansion is supported for that exact model.
  • App behavior, operating noise, warranty, and current like-for-like prices.

Notebookcheck compares the SE with the Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 and notes that some competing models offer faster charging. That is not enough by itself to establish a better buy: compare current regional pricing and test conditions alongside capacity, output, and charging specifications.
