ORICO describes the drive as plug-and-play, but that should not be read as proof that every phone and recording setup will work identically. Its blog says Lightning-interface devices are not compatible, so check the port and supported workflow rather than assuming that a magnetic fit is enough.
MagSafe and Android compatibility: check the connection as well as the magnets
ORICO says the SSD attaches to MagSafe-compatible iPhones and notes that iPhone 14 and earlier need an adapter. Its blog also says a universal magnetic ring is included. The manufacturer separately excludes Lightning-interface devices, so the adapter note does not mean older Lightning iPhones can use the drive for data. For Android phones, magnetic mounting is not automatic. Android Central describes using a MagSafe-compatible case or adding an adapter to a non-MagSafe case. Myrick’s account is specific to his experience, not a guarantee for every phone or case: “Until recently, the only way I could reliably use the K20 Mini with Android phones was to either use a MagSafe case or to slap an adapter to the back of a non-MagSafe case.” Android Central

How fast is the ORICO K20 Mini?
ORICO advertises read and write speeds up to 2050MB/s on its product page; its blog describes transfer speed up to 2000MB/s. These are manufacturer claims, not independently measured K20 Mini results. ORICO describes an aluminum-alloy enclosure, but the reviewed sources do not provide a formal drop- or water-resistance rating, protection certification, or independent drop test. The metal body alone is not evidence that the drive is rugged or water-resistant. Handle it as an unverified portable electronic device, especially when it is attached to a phone.
