Order of the Sinking Star is confirmed as a digital Nintendo Switch 2 puzzle adventure, but Nintendo has not published a Switch 2 button map, frame-rate target, resolution, graphics menu, or game-specific accessibility list. Nintendo’s US product listing identifies Order of the Sinking Star as a digital Nintendo Switch 2 title with an October 8, 2026 release date. Store descriptions and availability can differ by region, so use your local Nintendo eShop listing for purchase and release information.
The listing names Arc Games as publisher and describes the game as a single-player puzzle adventure directed by Jonathan Blow. It does not identify a physical game card edition in the material available for this settings-focused question.
Play modes and players
Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play on one Switch 2 system for one player. Those entries confirm that the game can be launched in each mode; they do not, by themselves, prove that menus use the same scale, that every mode has identical image quality, or that performance is the same across modes.

The available official listing does not provide the game’s exact Switch 2 bindings. It does not say which buttons confirm, cancel, interact, open a menu, undo a move, or reset a puzzle. Do not copy a control diagram from a PC demo, Xbox version, video, or another platform and present it as the Switch 2 layout.
An official game-news result uses the phrase “optimized controls, smooth performance, and interfaces tailored for handheld play.” The platform scope of that statement is not clear enough to establish a Switch 2-specific button arrangement or handheld interface treatment.

How to read the released game’s prompts
Use the game itself as the authority for the controls on your console. Menus can change with patches, and prompt symbols can differ according to the controller connected.
- Launch the Switch 2 version and enter a playable area rather than relying on a title-screen image or a video from another platform.
- Pause the game and open the menu item labeled for controls, input, options, or settings, using the wording shown in your build.
- Write down every action displayed for the controller you intend to use. Check directional input, face buttons, shoulder buttons, sticks, stick clicks, plus/minus, and any motion or touch action that appears.
- Return to a safe puzzle screen and test each prompt once. Confirm that the displayed action and the resulting behavior match, especially for undo, reset, hint, or menu commands.
- Repeat the check after changing from handheld controls to a paired controller. A prompt can change when the active input device changes.
If the game has no control reference page, pause at the first interactive section and record the prompts shown there. Report the exact labels and a software version if you need help from the publisher; “the controls do not work” is less actionable than naming the displayed action and the button you pressed.

In-game remapping is unconfirmed
No available Nintendo listing or platform-specific documentation confirms an in-game remapping screen for Order of the Sinking Star. The game may offer a remap, alternate scheme, or no game-level customization at all. Do not assume that a general statement about “optimized controls” means buttons can be reassigned.
Look specifically for a control-layout, customize-controls, button assignment, or alternate scheme entry in the game’s own settings. If you find one, test whether it changes only gameplay actions, menu navigation, both, or the on-screen button prompts. Record whether the setting is saved per profile, per controller, or globally; that scope is important when more than one person uses the console.
Console remapping is a separate question

If you use a system-level assignment, test the complete loop: launch the game, follow an on-screen prompt, open and close menus, perform a reversible puzzle action, and verify that the reassigned control does not make another required action inaccessible. Keep the original layout available so you can restore it if a prompt becomes confusing.

If text appears only briefly, test whether a pause, history, or slower text-speed option exists before starting a long puzzle session.

Color and visual presentation
Check for color-blind filters, palette choices, contrast modes, brightness, flashing reduction, screen-shake reduction, or an option to distinguish puzzle elements with symbols or patterns. None of these options is confirmed by the current Switch 2 listing. If a puzzle depends on color, verify that the same solution remains distinguishable after any available filter is enabled.
Audio and other sensory controls
Inspect separate sliders for master volume, music, effects, and dialogue, along with mute, mono-audio, or audio-cue options. A practical settings check before a long puzzle session
- Update first. Install the current game update shown by your Switch 2. A later patch can add, remove, or rename settings.
- Check the active controller. Start in handheld mode, record the prompts, then repeat with the controller you will use on a TV or tabletop.
- Open every relevant settings category. Inspect controls, gameplay, accessibility, display, audio, language, and subtitle sections if they exist. Do not treat a missing category as proof that the feature is impossible; it may be grouped under another label.
- Test readability in context. Read a puzzle instruction, a dialogue panel, a menu list, and any small status text in both handheld and TV modes.
- Test a reversible action. Change one setting, perform an action that can be undone, and verify that the new input or presentation behaves as expected.

Troubleshooting common problems
A button prompt does not match your controller

Without those details, the useful conclusion is only that the behavior has not been independently measured.
What evidence would settle the remaining questions?
A definitive controls guide would need the Switch 2 release-build button map, including controller variants and any touch or motion input. A remapping answer would need screenshots or documentation showing whether assignments are available, which actions can be changed, and whether prompts update.
