Each mirror projects two beams at right angles. When the player stands on one beam, the game shows a reflected position on the other beam at the same distance from the mirror. Activating the mirror exchanges those two positions: you leave your current square and appear at the reflected square.

The same exchange can move objects. Boulders and crystals can occupy a beam and be transported through a mirror just as the player can. A boulder dropped into water sinks and turns that water square into a tile you can cross, making the object itself part of the route.
Mirrors are movable. Pushing one changes where both beams reach, which changes the reflected destination. In some arrangements, two mirrors facing one another split the Trader into copies; other configurations allow copies to merge. These effects mean that a move can alter the board’s geometry without immediately moving the player.

A reliable method for solving any Mirror Isles board
- Pause at the starting position and map the beams. Identify the mirror, the two beam directions, and the square at the same distance on the opposite beam. Do this for every mirror that could affect your next move.
- Inspect the reflected destination before activating. The destination preview is the most valuable hint in the puzzle. Confirm that it is not occupied by a wall, an unsolved object, another copy, or an unusable water square.
- Decide whether to move first. Walking farther from or closer to the mirror changes the reflected square by the same distance. A destination that misses an island from the current position may line up perfectly after a few walking steps.
- Move blocking objects deliberately. If a boulder or crystal occupies either beam, decide whether it is an obstruction or a tool. You may need to transport it first, or sink it in water to create a tile before attempting the player swap.
- Push the mirror only when the new geometry is understood. A single push can move the destination far enough to miss an island, goal, or object. After each push, recalculate both beam directions rather than relying on the previous preview.
- Use water as construction space. Water is a barrier until an object sinks into it. If the route crosses a water gap, identify the exact square that must be filled and make sure the object can reach that square through a reflection.
- Plan copy interactions separately. With facing mirrors, track each Trader copy as an individual piece. Before activating either mirror, determine whether the move creates a new copy, moves an existing one, or merges copies.
- Finish by checking the goal’s actual square. Being on the correct island is not enough if the exit or goal circle is offset. Walk onto the goal only after the final swap has placed you on the correct side of the board.
Mirror Isles 1: the documented two-swap solution
The available worked route applies to a specific four-island board. Use it only if your opening screen matches the guide’s arrangement: four separate islets, the same mirror placement and orientation, and the same goal location. Community guides use different labels, so landmarks are more reliable than a level number.

- Activate the mirror to reach the top-left island.
- After arriving, do not activate immediately again. Walk to the leftmost square of that island. This changes your distance from the mirror and therefore moves the reflected destination.
- Check the preview until the reflected square aligns with the southern island.
- Activate the mirror a second time, then walk to the goal circle.
The important detail is the walking adjustment between swaps. Repeating the first activation from the same distance sends you to the same reflected position; moving along the top-left island changes the second landing point.
Full solution with the board check
- Compare your board with the four-island starting layout shown by the community guide. If the islands, mirror orientation, or goal differ, stop and identify the matching board instead of forcing this sequence.
- From the starting island, activate the mirror and teleport to the top-left islet.
- Walk across that islet to its left edge, the square where the mirror’s reflected line lines up with the southern island.
- Activate the mirror again. The second swap places you on the southern island.
- Walk onto the goal circle to complete the board.
This is a community-documented route and gameplay example, not a publisher-verified sequence. The guide notes that its exact game build is not shown, so a layout mismatch is sufficient reason to use the mechanic-based method instead.
How to identify the correct “Part 1” board
“Part 1” is not established as an official in-game scope in the available material. Board names and numbers differ between community directories because some guides count hub puzzles separately and others do not. A descriptive title in a directory may also differ from the released game’s level name.

Using mirrors, objects, and water on harder boards
When the player cannot reach the required island
Do not assume the mirror is incorrectly placed. First test several walking distances along the current beam. The reflected point moves in equal increments, so a short repositioning can bring it onto a distant islet. If no position works, push the mirror and recalculate the beams from its new square.
When a boulder blocks the destination
A blocked destination is usually a sequencing problem. Move the boulder through the mirror first if possible, or push it to a square that leaves the player’s landing point clear. If the boulder can reach water, use the water square as a bridge only after confirming that the resulting tile does not obstruct a later reflection.
When a crystal must cross a gap
Stand on the beam opposite the crystal’s intended landing point and preview the exchange. The object must be at the correct distance from the mirror; merely placing it on the beam is not enough. If the distance is wrong, push the mirror or reposition the object before activating.
When facing mirrors create copies
Count copies after every activation. A facing pair can split the Trader, leaving more than one piece on the board. Treat each copy’s position as a separate constraint, and avoid a second activation until you know whether it will create another copy or merge existing ones. The useful question is not “Which copy is real?” but “Which copy occupies the goal route after this exchange?”

Comparing two possible routes
When two walkthroughs appear to disagree, compare their boards before comparing their move lists. Start with the island arrangement: even a single extra islet or a different water gap can make an otherwise identical sequence impossible. Next compare the number of mirrors and the direction of each pair of beams. A mirror that faces a different side changes the reflected square at every distance.

Then inventory movable pieces. One version may place a boulder or crystal on a beam while another leaves that line clear. Check whether water is involved, because a route that sinks an object is solving a different constraint from a route that uses only player swaps. Finally, locate the goal or exit and note the guide’s version label. Demo, hub, full-region, and community board identifiers are not interchangeable automatically.
This comparison is faster than restarting repeatedly. Sketch each island as a simple block, mark the mirror and its two beam directions, and circle the goal. If those marks do not match, use the other guide only as a mechanics reference, not as a move-for-move solution.
A practical planning worksheet
For a difficult board, write down one line for each planned exchange: the piece being moved, its current distance from the mirror, the destination beam, and the square expected after activation. This separates player swaps from object swaps and makes an incorrect assumption visible.

- Choose the next piece. Decide whether the player, a boulder, or a crystal must move first.
- Mark the source beam. Confirm that the piece is actually on a beam and note which direction it faces.
- Count distance. The destination must be the same distance from the mirror on the other beam.
- Check occupancy. Look for walls, another object, a copy, or untreated water at the landing square.
- Record the consequence. A mirror push changes future beams; a sunk boulder changes which water square is walkable; a facing-mirror activation can change the number of copies.
After an exchange, update the worksheet instead of relying on the previous preview. The board may now have a different object arrangement even when the player’s immediate position looks unchanged.
Common dead ends to avoid
The most common mistake is treating the first visible reflection as the only possible one. Walking along the beam changes the destination, so test the available distances before moving a mirror. The opposite mistake is pushing a mirror without recording its old orientation. Once the beams move, the original route no longer describes the board.
Do not spend a boulder on a water square just because it creates a crossing. Confirm that the resulting tile still leaves the next reflection usable. Likewise, do not activate a facing mirror a second time merely to see what happens; first count the copies and identify which one can continue toward the goal. If a route fails at its first move, verify the board identity before trying more variations.

Troubleshooting a route that does not work
- The swap lands on the wrong island: Check your distance from the mirror. Walking one or more squares before activation changes the reflected location.
- The preview is blocked: Move the blocking object, transport it first, or push the mirror. Do not activate into an occupied or unusable square.
- You cannot cross water: Walking across untreated water is not the intended route. Find a boulder or other movable object that can sink into the required square.
- Pushing the mirror made the route worse: Recalculate both beams after the push. The mirror’s new position changes the destination even if your own position did not change.
- Two guides disagree on the level number: Match the island layout, mirror orientation, objects, water, and goal instead of relying on numbering.
- Copies appear or disappear unexpectedly: You are likely using a facing-mirror configuration. Observe whether the move split a copy or merged copies, then plan the next activation with the new count.
- The documented Mirror 1 route fails immediately: Your board is not the same four-island layout, or the game build differs from the community example. Return to the landmark check before trying another sequence.
