The OPPO Reno16 is a conventional smartphone with a roughly 6.3-inch screen; the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra opens into an 8-inch inner display. The cited regional specifications also list a larger battery for the Reno16, while the Fold8 Ultra has a higher-resolution main camera and a more powerful named chipset. A reliable price difference cannot be stated from the available figures: OPPO’s documented prices are for India, while no matching Samsung price is established here.
At a glance: two different kinds of phone
The Reno16 is built as a standard phone. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable: use its 6.5-inch cover screen when closed, or unfold it for an 8-inch workspace. That distinction matters more to daily use than a simple spec-sheet ranking. Display sizes are diagonal measurements; usable area is smaller around corners and camera openings.
OPPO announced the Reno16 series on June 25, 2026. Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra on August 6, 2026; sales began August 7 in select markets, with broader rollout planned. OPPO’s global announcement says pricing and availability vary by market. Samsung’s launch information likewise cautions that availability may vary. Samsung’s launch announcement

How the displays and form factors compare
Reno16: a conventional phone
The Japan and India Reno16 specifications describe a 120Hz, 2,640 × 1,216 AMOLED display around 6.3 inches. It remains one screen in a standard phone body, without a separate unfolding step.
Rank #2
- 6.32 inches, AMOLED, 1B colors, 1216 x 2640 pixels
- 512GB Storage, 12GB RAM
- Android 16, ColorOS 16, Mediatek Dimensity 8550 Super (4 nm), Octa-core (1x3.4 GHz Cortex-A725 & 3x3.2 GHz Cortex-A725 & 4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A725)
- Rear: 200 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56", 0.5µm, PDAF, OIS, 50 MP, f/2.8, 80mm (telephoto), 1/2.75", 0.64µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom, 50 MP, f/2.0, 16mm, 116˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.88", 0.61µm, AF. Front: 50 MP, f/2.0, 18mm, 100˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.75", 0.64µm, AF
Fold8 Ultra: cover screen plus larger inner screen
Samsung lists a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch inner screen, both supporting adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. The larger unfolded panel is the practical differentiator for activities such as reading, viewing media, and working with multiple apps. Whether that trade-off suits you depends on how often you want the larger workspace and are comfortable carrying a foldable.

In the cited India configuration, the Reno16 has three 50MP rear cameras, including a stabilized 3.5x optical-zoom telephoto. Japan’s announcement also lists three 50MP cameras but does not establish the same zoom detail in the cited specifications. Samsung’s Singapore table lists a 200MP stabilized main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a stabilized 10MP 3x telephoto.
Rank #3
- 6.57 inches, AMOLED, 1B colors, 1080 x 2372 pixels
- 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, microSDXC
- Android 16, ColorOS 16, Mediatek Dimensity 7300 Energy (4 nm), Octa-core (4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
- Rear: 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0", 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 50 MP, f/2.8, 92mm (telephoto), 1/3.13", 0.56µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom, 8 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 116˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, AF, Front: 50 MP, f/2.0, 18mm, 100˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.88", 0.61µm, AF
- 158.2 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm or 8.6 mm, 194 g or 196 g (6.84 oz)
These specifications identify camera roles and resolution, not which phone takes better pictures. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality; a fair verdict would require comparable independent photo testing.
Battery and charging: capacities are not endurance tests
OPPO lists 6,700mAh for the Japan Reno16 and 6,700mAh typical (6,490mAh rated) for the India model. Samsung lists 5,000mAh typical (4,854mAh rated) for the Fold8 Ultra. These are manufacturer capacity figures; they do not establish which phone lasts longer in real use.
Rank #4
- 6.57 inches, AMOLED, 1B colors, 1080 x 2372 pixels
- 512GB Storage, 8GB RAM, microSDXC
- Android 16, ColorOS 16, Mediatek Dimensity 7300 Energy (4 nm), Octa-core (4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
- Rear: 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0", 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 50 MP, f/2.8, 92mm (telephoto), 1/3.13", 0.56µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom, 8 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 116˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, AF, Front: 50 MP, f/2.0, 18mm, 100˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.88", 0.61µm, AF
- 158.2 x 74.9 x 8.4 mm or 8.6 mm, 194 g or 196 g (6.84 oz)
OPPO lists charging up to 80W, with Japan’s specification also naming 55W PPS. Samsung lists 45W wired charging and 20W fast wireless charging; its stated estimate of up to 67% in about 30 minutes depends on using its specified 45W adapter and a 3A USB-C cable. Actual charging time can depend on conditions and equipment.
Performance and regional features
The cited Reno16 pages name the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while Samsung’s Singapore specification lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Chip names alone are not a benchmark, and the cited sources do not provide comparative test results or software-support durations.
Best Value
- Precise Fit for OPPO Reno16 5G / OPPO Reno 16 5G - Designed for the selected phone model with aligned camera, button and charging openings.
- Flexible TPU Protection - Injection-moulded TPU is light, easy to install and helps cushion daily bumps.
- Large Camera Window - Raised camera border helps reduce lens contact with desks and flat surfaces.
- Silver or White Leather-Look - Two clean finishes for a simple, refined phone back style.
- Slim Daily Cover - Smooth edges and steady grip make it suitable for work, travel and everyday use.
Features also differ by market. OPPO India says its Reno16 does not support NFC, eSIM, or storage-card expansion; Japan’s announcement lists dual nano-SIM/eSIM support. Do not apply one country’s configuration to another. Samsung also notes that model, carrier, retailer, and availability can vary by market or channel.
What price difference can you establish?
OPPO India listed the Reno16 at ₹66,999 for 8GB/256GB and ₹72,999 for 12GB/256GB, with those prices stated correct as of August 31, 2026 and subject to change. The cited Samsung specifications do not give a Fold8 Ultra price for India or a matching Singapore price. Therefore, these sources do not support a numeric Reno16-versus-Fold8 Ultra price gap.
For a valid comparison, use current prices from the same country and date, specify whether tax is included, match storage as closely as possible, and compare like-for-like sales channels. A price gap alone does not settle value because one device is a conventional phone and the other is a foldable with a much larger inner screen.
