The Oppo Find X8 is a compelling compact flagship if you want fast performance, long battery life and three capable rear cameras without stepping up to the Pro. Its main compromise is camera reach: it has one telephoto camera, not the Pro’s second, longer-reach telephoto. Reviewers also flag the lack of a dedicated camera button, and one India-market review found the ultrawide camera less impressive than the rest.
Oppo Find X8 review verdict: who should buy it?
Independent reviews broadly describe the standard Find X8 as a well-rounded flagship. GSMArena calls it “an excellent, well-rounded device,” while Tech Advisor praises its photography, speed, battery life and charging. Tom’s Guide also highlights its display, camera output and chip performance. Those strengths make it a good fit for someone who wants a powerful phone in a relatively compact package and does not need the Pro’s extra telephoto reach.
It is a less obvious choice if you prioritize long-range zoom, want a dedicated camera control, or expect every camera to perform equally well in every scene. Camera preference is scene-dependent: Tom’s Guide noted an example in which it preferred another phone’s main-camera image. Gadgets 360 also listed ultrawide performance as a downside for the India-market model.

What are the Find X8’s key specifications?
OPPO India lists the following specifications for the Find X8 model CPH2651. They describe that regional version; configurations, connectivity, charging equipment and box contents may differ elsewhere.
| Feature | OPPO India specification |
|---|---|
| Display | 6.59-inch flexible AMOLED |
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 9400 |
| Rear cameras | 50MP wide with OIS; 50MP 120-degree autofocus ultrawide; 50MP telephoto with OIS |

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. OPPO says charging output can vary with regional input voltage and compatible accessories. The India package listing includes a charger, cable, SIM tool, guides and protective case, but OPPO says package contents may vary by market. GSMArena reports that the EU model does not include an in-box charger.

OPPO’s global product page describes IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance under controlled laboratory conditions, including specified depth, time and water-jet tests. OPPO cautions that protection can decline with wear and that real-world results depend on conditions. These ratings are not a promise that the phone is waterproof or safe to expose to water.
How good are the Find X8’s cameras?
A versatile three-camera rear system
The standard Find X8 has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP autofocus ultrawide with a 120-degree field of view, and a 50MP telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. OPPO lists a 32MP front camera. Reviewers generally praise the phone’s photography; Tech Advisor calls the photography excellent, and Gadgets 360 lists low-light video among its positives for the India-market version.

- Rear: 200 MP, f/1.5, 23mm (wide), 1/1.12", PDAF, OIS, 200 MP, f/2.2, 70mm (periscope telephoto), 1/1.28", PDAF (15cm - ∞), OIS, 3x optical zoom, 50 MP, f/3.5, 230mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.75", PDAF, OIS, 10x optical zoom, 50 MP, f/2.0, 14mm, 123˚ (ultrawide), 1/1.95", PDAF, Front: 50 MP, f/2.4, 21mm (wide), 1/2.75", PDAF
- 163.2 x 77.0 x 8.7 mm or 9.1 mm
The Pro’s second telephoto is the key difference
The regular Find X8 does not have the Find X8 Pro’s second telephoto camera, so it offers less native long-range zoom reach. Tech Advisor specifically lists the lack of 6x telephoto among its cons. The Pro also has a dedicated camera button that the standard model lacks. If zoom flexibility or a physical camera control matters more to you than a smaller, lower-cost model, compare the two versions on those points before choosing.
Camera results depend on the scene
Reviews are positive overall, but they do not establish that the Find X8 wins every camera comparison. Tom’s Guide describes a case where it preferred a competing phone’s main-camera image, while Gadgets 360 identifies the ultrawide as a weaker area. Treat broad praise as an assessment of the overall system, not a guarantee of identical results across lenses, lighting and subjects.

How fast is it, and how long does the battery last?
OPPO equips the Find X8 with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400. Tom’s Guide praises chip performance, and Tech Advisor lists speed as a strength. Reviewers also report long battery life. These findings support the phone’s reputation as a strong everyday performer, but battery endurance and benchmark results vary with testing conditions and use; the listed capacity alone cannot predict a particular owner’s screen time.

What are the main drawbacks?
- Less zoom flexibility than the Pro: there is no second telephoto camera, and Tech Advisor notes the absence of 6x telephoto.
- No dedicated camera button: a feature reviewers identify as an omission compared with the Pro.
- Ultrawide performance may lag: Gadgets 360 lists it as a negative for the India-market phone.
- Preinstalled apps: Gadgets 360 flags preinstalled apps as a drawback.
- Design may not stand out: Tom’s Guide describes the design as generic.
- Package contents vary: charger inclusion is regional; GSMArena says the EU version omits an in-box charger, while OPPO India lists one for its package.
How long will the Find X8 receive software updates?
GSMArena reports a policy of five OS releases and six years of security updates. Tom’s Guide describes the commitment as five years of full updates plus one additional year of security support. These are reported policy descriptions, not confirmation of when a particular regional model has received each update. Check OPPO’s current regional support information if update timing is a deciding factor.
Should you buy the standard Find X8 or the Pro?
The standard Find X8 makes the stronger case if you value a relatively compact design, flagship performance, long reported battery life and a versatile three-camera system, while being comfortable with less zoom reach. The Pro is the more natural alternative if its second telephoto camera or dedicated camera button is important to your photography.
Do not assume the standard model is cheaper or easier to find in your market today based on older reviews. Current price, availability, network compatibility and software rollout are not established by those reviews; verify them locally. Also check the exact model number and regional package before relying on listed specifications or expecting a charger.
