OPPO may be first to follow Huawei into the wide, non-folding phone format, with HONOR potentially behind it—but neither company has announced such a device. The claims come from an October 8, 2026 report citing tipster Digital Chat Station, and the available OPPO screen-size leaks conflict. Huawei’s Pura X View, by contrast, has been reported as a launched product.
What is a wide-screen candybar phone?
It is a conventional, non-folding phone with a wider-than-usual screen shape: the display aims to offer more horizontal room without a hinge or flexible screen. Huawei’s Pura X View is the current reference point in this reporting. TechNode reported that Huawei unveiled it on August 20, 2026, with a 6.39-inch OLED display in a 16:9.5 aspect ratio.
That distinction matters: “wide-screen” describes the phone’s screen format, not a foldable design. A wide display may suit reading, gaming, or multitasking, but the wider body can be less pocket-friendly and harder to operate one-handed, according to Android Authority.
What is reported about OPPO and HONOR?
Gizmochina’s October 8 report, citing Digital Chat Station, says OPPO may lead a new push for wide-screen candybar phones and HONOR may follow. It also says neither company has announced a device, specifications, or launch timing. These are reported plans, not confirmed products.

OPPO’s leaked details are unsettled
The October 8 report relays a possible 7.6-inch prototype display and mentions a Snapdragon 8-series or Dimensity 9-series processor, a 200-megapixel main camera, a periscope telephoto camera, and a battery of roughly 7,000mAh. These are leaks, not confirmed specifications. The screen-size claim also conflicts with earlier reporting summarized by GSMDome, which put a possible OPPO device at roughly 6.3–6.4 inches. Neither size should be treated as final.
HONOR has no reported specifications in the core report
The report provides no HONOR model name, screen size, camera details, battery capacity, or release date. There is not enough information to compare a possible HONOR phone’s hardware with Huawei’s or OPPO’s.

TechNode also reported Huawei reservations opened on August 20, with in-store experiences scheduled to begin August 28. Gizmochina reported more than 180,000 Pura X View units sold on the first day; that figure is a secondary report and is not independently verified in the reviewed coverage.
Why make a phone wider instead of folding it?
A wide slab could provide extra horizontal screen space without requiring a folding hinge. Android Authority identifies reading, gaming, and multitasking as potential benefits of the format. The trade-off is physical: a wider handset may be less convenient to carry and reach across with one hand. Whether the balance works depends on the final screen proportions and body dimensions, which remain unknown for the rumored OPPO and HONOR devices.

To judge any eventual product, compare the usable screen width and aspect ratio, one-handed reach and portability, whether it has a hinge or flexible display, and its confirmed price and regional availability. Those details are not established for the rumored phones, so a meaningful purchase comparison is premature.

No connection has been announced. OPPO said the Find X10 series will make its global debut on October 21, 2026, in Mallorca, Spain. That is a confirmed announcement about the Find X10 series; it does not confirm a separate wide-screen slab phone. The October 8 report about a possible wide-screen OPPO device remains a separate rumor.
