OpenAI is reportedly discussing a financing round targeted at $30 billion, but the talks are ongoing and the figure is not money the company has confirmed raising. Bloomberg reported on October 5, 2026 that multiple United Arab Emirates funds, including Abu Dhabi-based MGX, had discussed investing as much as $10 billion collectively; BlackRock was also reported to be considering participation.
What Bloomberg reported about the proposed round
Bloomberg’s October 5, 2026 report, by Edward Ludlow, Rebecca Torrence, Shirin Ghaffary and Natasha Mascarenhas, said OpenAI was in talks with several UAE investment funds that could form a syndicate. One person familiar with the matter said the funds had discussed contributing up to $10 billion in total. Bloomberg also reported that BlackRock was discussing participation alongside the group. Is OpenAI raising $30 billion?
The $30 billion is the reported target for a proposed round, not a confirmed amount raised, secured or closed. Bloomberg said fundraising was continuing and that details could change. Its report did not establish a final investor list, individual allocations, definitive closing or agreed terms.
OpenAI and BlackRock declined to comment to Bloomberg. MGX representatives did not respond outside normal business hours. Those responses do not confirm participation or the reported terms.

How this differs from OpenAI’s February financing
The October talks are separate from a financing event reported by The Associated Press on February 27, 2026. AP reported $110 billion in funding commitments from Amazon, SoftBank and Nvidia, and a $730 billion pre-money valuation for that earlier financing. It said Amazon was committing $50 billion, while Nvidia and SoftBank were each committing $30 billion; Amazon’s investment was subject to preset conditions and included an initial $15 billion tranche.
