At the prices shown on comparison sites in early October 2026, the Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G is listed about ₹5,000 cheaper than the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite 5G, and Xiaomi’s official page gives it the larger headline battery and screen. Neither phone is a clear winner on paper. The OnePlus side of the spec sheet is thinner in the sources available, its performance is not independently tested, and the price gap can shift quickly. This guide explains what is established, what is not, and how to decide.

The table below lists only what the sources for this comparison state. Where a value does not appear on the pages cited here, the cell says so rather than filling it in from assumption.

Most of the Redmi column comes from Xiaomi’s own product page, so treat those figures as manufacturer claims. The OnePlus column is incomplete, which is why the comparison cannot yet be scored line by line.
Price difference: ₹5,000 on observed listings
The comparison page at 91mobiles showed ₹28,999 for the Nord CE 6 Lite and ₹23,999 for the Redmi 17 5G when accessed on 4 October 2026. Gadgets Now reports the same figures. These are observed retailer listings, not official fixed prices, and the comparison pages do not confirm the RAM and storage configuration behind either number. A ₹5,000 gap is only meaningful if both phones are the same variant.

OnePlus’ launch statement is different. Its India product page says the Nord CE 6 Lite was priced accurately at launch within the ₹20,000–₹25,000 segment, based on data as of 7 May 2026. That describes launch positioning, not today’s price. The observed ₹28,999 sits above that band, so the launch statement should not be used to judge current value.
Display and battery: where the Redmi’s numbers stand out
Screen size and refresh rate
Xiaomi lists the Redmi 17 5G with a 6.9-inch (17.53cm) HD+ display that supports adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. The HD+ resolution is lower than full HD+, and the adaptive refresh behaviour depends on the content being shown. Xiaomi’s figures are product specifications. No display measurement for either phone was available for this comparison, so brightness, colour accuracy and how smoothly the 120Hz mode performs in practice remain unverified.
Battery capacity and charging
Xiaomi rates the Redmi’s battery at 7900mAh typical and lists 45W Turbo Charging. “Typical” is a rated capacity, not a guarantee of how long the phone lasts under your use. Battery endurance, charging times and real-world drain have not been independently tested for either model, so the larger number is a reason to look closer, not proof of longer runtime.

Chipset and performance: labels are not results
The OnePlus uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex, and the Redmi uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, according to the comparison listings. A chipset name tells you the platform, not how it performs in apps, games, under heat or during sustained use. No hands-on or benchmark testing for these two phones is available here, so no performance winner can be declared. If processing power is your main concern, look for independent reviews published after launch and compare them directly.
Camera: 50MP is a sensor figure, not a photo verdict
The Redmi 17 5G carries a 50MP AI dual camera system according to Xiaomi. Megapixel count describes the sensor’s resolution and says little about colour, low-light performance, dynamic range or processing. The OnePlus camera hardware is not described on the pages cited here, so a camera comparison is not possible yet.
Software support: the Redmi’s commitment is stated, OnePlus’ is not
Xiaomi’s official page states that the Redmi 17 5G runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, with four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. The OnePlus product page excerpt available for this comparison does not establish an equivalent support duration. Until you have checked OnePlus’ current update policy directly, do not assume the two phones are equal, or that either one is better, on software longevity.

Which one should you buy?
The right choice depends on what you weigh most. Use this framework:
- Choose the Redmi 17 5G if you want a larger screen, a larger rated battery and a stated four-year OS and six-year security update commitment, and the lower observed price matters to you.
- Consider the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite 5G if you prefer its MediaTek platform or the OnePlus software experience, and you have confirmed its support policy and its specifications in full. Its performance advantage, if any, is not established here.
- Wait or compare again if the two prices are not for the same RAM and storage configuration, or if you cannot find the OnePlus display, battery and update details on its official page.
Before you buy: checks that change the answer
- Confirm the RAM and storage configuration on both listings. A ₹5,000 difference between a 6GB and 8GB model is not a like-for-like price gap.
- Check the live price on the official Xiaomi India and OnePlus India product pages and on the retailer you plan to use. Observed listings can change within days.
- Read the offer terms, including bank discounts, exchange offers and delivery charges, because they can close or widen the gap.
- Verify OnePlus’ software update policy directly before treating the update commitments as equal.
- Look for independent battery, display and performance tests published after the phones’ launch before deciding on any of those categories.
Once you have matched configurations and live prices, the comparison becomes a question of which trade-offs matter most to you, not which phone wins on specifications.
