The OnePlus Nord 6’s clearest advantages over the India-market Nord 5 are its much larger battery, a newer-generation processor, a higher maximum refresh rate and stronger stated water- and dust-resistance ratings. The Nord 5 may be the better buy if it is substantially cheaper or you value its listed 50MP front camera. Whether the Nord 6 is worth paying more for depends on the current price gap and which of those differences matter to you.
What changed between the Nord 5 and Nord 6?
Here are the headline India-market specification differences. Launch prices below are historical, not current quotes; configurations and offers should be checked against live listings.

Is the Nord 6 battery upgrade worth it?
Battery capacity is the most substantial specification change: the Nord 6 has a 9,000mAh battery, compared with 6,800mAh in the Nord 5. Both India product pages list 80W charging. OnePlus describes the Nord 6 as offering “2.5+ days” of power, but that is a manufacturer claim, and its page says actual battery life varies with conditions. Android Central’s Nord 6 review reports two days under heavy use and up to three days with light use in the reviewer’s experience. That observation is not a guaranteed result or a controlled comparison with the Nord 5. Android Central’s Nord 6 review
#1 Best Overall

- 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM
- Android 16, OxygenOS 16, Qualcomm SM8735 Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (4 nm), Octa-core (1x3.21 GHz Cortex-X4 & 3x3.0 GHz Cortex-A720 & 2x2.8 GHz Cortex-A720 & 2x2.0 GHz Cortex-A720)
- Rear: 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.95", 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 8 MP, f/2.2, 16mm, 112˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, Front: 32 MP, f/2.0, 21mm (wide), 1/3.1", 1.6µm, PDAF
- 162.5 x 77.5 x 8.5 mm (6.40 x 3.05 x 0.33 in)
The Nord 6’s larger capacity is most compelling if you often finish the day low on charge, travel without reliable charging access, or simply want to recharge less often. If you already charge nightly and the Nord 5’s endurance suits your routine, the capacity difference may not justify a large premium by itself.
How much faster is the Nord 6?
The move from Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 makes the Nord 6 the newer-generation option. That establishes a newer processor, but it does not establish a particular everyday speed increase or performance percentage. 91mobiles’ specification comparison
For a buyer choosing between them, the newer generation may be a reason to favor the Nord 6 if processor headroom is important. The available evidence does not include a matched independent benchmark or direct app-performance test of both phones, so it cannot show how large a practical difference you would see.

Does the Nord 6’s 165Hz display make a visible difference?
The listed maximum refresh rate rises from 144Hz on the Nord 5 to 165Hz on the Nord 6. That is a higher ceiling, not a guarantee that every app, game or moment of scrolling runs at that rate. The benefit depends on software and content support; the specification alone does not show that everyday use will look dramatically smoother. 91mobiles’ specification comparison
Which phone has the better cameras?
The specifications are mixed: OnePlus lists a 50MP front camera on the Nord 5 and a 32MP front camera on the Nord 6. The Nord 6’s product page lists a 50MP Sony main rear camera and advertises 4K 60fps selfie video. Nord 5 specifications | Nord 6 specifications
The Nord 5 therefore has the higher listed selfie-camera resolution, which may matter if you compare camera specifications or prioritize that figure. Megapixels alone do not establish image quality, however, and the available sources do not provide a controlled camera comparison between the two phones. There is not enough evidence here to name one the better camera phone overall.

What do the water-resistance ratings mean?
The comparison lists IP65 for the Nord 5 and IP66, IP68 and IP69 for the Nord 6; OnePlus’s Nord 6 India page also lists IP69K. These are stated ingress-protection ratings, not a promise that either phone is damage-proof. OnePlus cautions that the Nord 6 is not intended for professional diving, that water resistance applies only under stated conditions and that it may diminish over time. 91mobiles comparison | OnePlus Nord 6 specifications
How should you compare software support?
Both OnePlus India product pages advertise four Android OS/version updates and six years of security updates. OS upgrades and security updates are separate parts of that commitment. The number of years an individual buyer has remaining depends on when support began and applicable regional policy; these figures alone do not establish an exact support end date. For a value decision today, check current India listings and compare equivalent RAM and storage, not just the lowest headline price. A discounted Nord 5 can make more sense if you do not need the Nord 6’s larger battery, newer processor generation or higher stated protection ratings. If the live price gap is small and those changes matter to you, the Nord 6 has the stronger case.
Which OnePlus Nord should you choose?
Choose the OnePlus Nord 6 if
- You place a high value on the larger listed battery and want to recharge less often.
- You prefer the newer chipset generation and accept that the available specifications do not quantify a direct performance gain.
- The higher refresh-rate ceiling and stronger stated ingress-protection ratings matter to your use.
- Its current price premium over a comparable Nord 5 configuration feels reasonable to you.
Choose the OnePlus Nord 5 if
- It is materially cheaper in current listings and its battery and performance suit your needs.
- You prioritize its listed 50MP front camera, while recognizing that megapixel count alone does not establish image quality.
- You do not expect the Nord 6’s higher refresh-rate ceiling or protection ratings to change how you use the phone.
Check the exact India variant, seller, stock and current price before buying: launch prices and offers do not tell you what either model costs now.
