There is no evidence-backed universal winner between the OnePlus Nord 5 and Nothing Phone (4a), and the available prices do not support a current, like-for-like price-gap claim. The Nord 5’s cited European configuration stands out for its higher refresh-rate display, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 80W charging; the Phone (4a) offers a reported dedicated periscope camera. Compare current prices for the same memory tier in your country, then decide which trade-off matters more.
At a glance: how the specifications compare
The Nord 5 specifications below come from OnePlus’s Estonia page; Phone (4a) specifications are reported in TechRadar’s review, rather than an official Nothing specification sheet in the sources available here. Exact configurations and specifications can vary by market.

Which phone has the better display?
On the listed specifications, the Nord 5 has the larger screen and higher maximum refresh rate: 6.83 inches and up to 144Hz, compared with the Phone (4a)’s reported 6.78 inches and 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but refresh rate alone does not establish which screen looks better. No independent, side-by-side display test is available in the cited material.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhich is stronger for performance?
The Nord 5 uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, while TechRadar reports a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in the Phone (4a). The chip names identify a hardware difference, but they do not establish how the two phones compare in sustained workloads, gaming, heat or everyday responsiveness. No comparable benchmark or sustained-performance test was gathered, so treat manufacturer performance claims as claims rather than an independent head-to-head result.

Battery capacity and charging: what the figures show
The cited European Nord 5 specification lists a 5,200mAh battery and 80W charging; TechRadar reports 5,080mAh for the Phone (4a). Those capacities are close, but they cannot predict real-world endurance on their own. The sources do not establish a comparable battery-life or charging-speed test for both phones, and a verified Phone (4a) charging rate is not available here.
Check the Nord 5 listing for your market before buying. OnePlus’s Estonia and UK pages list 5,200mAh, while a Belarus regional page cited in the available material showed 6,800mAh. Do not assume every regional Nord 5 SKU has the same battery specification.
Camera choice: versatility versus untested image quality
The clearest hardware distinction is the Phone (4a)’s reported 50MP periscope rear camera, alongside main and ultra-wide cameras. OnePlus’s UK page advertises 50MP front and rear cameras, but megapixel counts alone do not show how images compare, and the sources provide no side-by-side photo test. If zoom flexibility is important, verify that the exact Phone (4a) configuration sold locally includes the reported periscope camera; do not treat the hardware description as proof that it takes better photos overall.

Nord 5 support commitment
OnePlus’s Estonia specifications page says the Nord 5 will receive at least four generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates from launch. Its listed configurations are 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB with 512GB.
Phone (4a) support and memory options
The cited review reports 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage for the Phone (4a). An equivalent support-duration commitment was not established by the sources cited here, so that evidence is not enough to declare either phone the support winner. Check Nothing’s current local product information for the software policy and the exact SKU available in your market.

The only specific Phone (4a) prices established here are historical UK preorder prices in Nothing’s terms, last updated 13 March 2026. They are not confirmed current prices, and the OnePlus pages cited do not give a comparable current UK checkout price.
| Phone (4a) UK preorder configuration | Preorder price in Nothing’s terms |
|---|---|
| 8GB/128GB | £349 |
| 8GB/256GB | £379 |
| 12GB/256GB | £399 |
Nothing’s terms say these prices are subject to change. They are dated UK preorder figures, not a current quote, and they cannot be used to calculate a present-day gap against the Nord 5. For a meaningful comparison, check both manufacturers or authorized retailers in the same country on the same day, match RAM and storage where possible, and distinguish a regular price from a sale or carrier offer. The Nord 5 configurations cited for Estonia do not perfectly match all of the Phone (4a)’s reported options, which makes configuration disclosure important as well.
Quick Recap
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Nord 5 if its local configuration and price fit
- You prioritize the listed 144Hz display and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
- You value the stated 80W charging and the 5,200mAh battery in the cited European specification.
- OnePlus’s stated Android-upgrade and security-update commitment is important to you.
Consider the Phone (4a) if camera hardware is the priority
- You want the reported three-camera rear setup, especially a dedicated periscope camera.
- The exact regional model and its current price meet your needs after checking the local listing.
- You prefer its design or software experience; those preferences are personal and are not settled by a specification table.
Before choosing on price
- Set your country and check both phones’ current listings there.
- Compare the same RAM and storage tier, or clearly account for a configuration difference.
- Record whether each figure is a regular retail price, temporary sale, preorder price or carrier offer.
- Confirm region-specific specifications on the local product pages, particularly the Nord 5 battery capacity and the Phone (4a) camera setup.
