The OnePlus Nord 5 is the stronger paper choice for chipset tier, display refresh rate, battery capacity and wired charging. The Nothing Phone (3a) is the better fit if you want a dedicated 2× optical-zoom telephoto camera or the lower price shown in the Indian comparison listing. Those are specification-based differences, not results from hands-on testing. Because the cited OnePlus specifications and Nothing price come from different regions, compare current prices and warranty terms in your own market before choosing.

The figures below combine OnePlus India product information, Nothing’s European product page and a 91mobiles comparison. Regional versions and prices may differ, so treat the table as a guide to the cited listings rather than a guarantee for every market.

The Nord 5’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 places it in the higher chipset tier of these two listed configurations; the Phone (3a) uses a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. These figures favor the Nord 5 for buyers prioritizing screen size, resolution and refresh rate; they do not by themselves establish which display looks better in person.
Cameras: Phone (3a) adds a 2× telephoto lens
Nothing Phone (3a)
The Phone (3a) has a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom. The telephoto module gives it a dedicated focal-length option that the Nord 5’s listed rear-camera setup does not have.
OnePlus Nord 5
The cited Nord 5 rear setup is a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide, with no telephoto module listed. Its 50 MP front-camera specification is higher than the Phone (3a)’s listed 32 MP front camera. Megapixel counts and lens count do not guarantee better photo or selfie quality, so choose based on the camera options you expect to use rather than resolution alone.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Price difference: the listed prices are not like-for-like
91mobiles lists ₹45,000 for the Nord 5 and ₹24,999 for the Phone (3a), a difference of ₹20,001 in that comparison. These are volatile third-party Indian price listings, not guaranteed current offers. Separately, Nothing’s Europe storefront lists the Phone (3a) at €329; that European price should not be compared directly with the Indian rupee listings.
For a fair purchase comparison, check the same country, storage configuration, seller conditions and date. Include warranty coverage and any current promotion in your calculation rather than assuming the comparison-page amounts are the prices you will pay.
Software support: compare the stated policies, then verify terms
OnePlus states that the Nord 5 receives four Android versions and six years of security updates. The 91mobiles comparison lists three years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the Phone (3a). Because the Nothing duration here comes from a secondary comparison listing, verify the current official policy for your region before treating it as a deciding long-term-support figure.
