How the specifications differ in practice

Chipset: different platforms, no benchmark winner established

The Nord 5 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, while the Edge 70 Pro 5G is listed with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Extreme. Those names identify different processor platforms, but they do not establish which phone is faster in sustained gaming, everyday use or heat management. A fair performance verdict needs comparable independent tests; none is established here.

Display: similar headline format

Both phones are listed with 1.5K AMOLED displays and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The Nord 5’s stated screen size is 6.83 inches versus 6.8 inches for the Motorola. These headline figures do not settle differences in brightness, color, outdoor legibility or panel quality.

Cameras: resolution is not image quality

The listed rear-camera layouts are a 50 MP main plus 8 MP ultra-wide on the Nord 5, and 50 MP main plus 50 MP ultra-wide on the Edge 70 Pro 5G. Both are listed with 50 MP front cameras. Megapixel counts alone cannot establish which phone takes better photos or video; that requires comparable samples and testing.

Battery and charging: capacity and watts are not test results

OnePlus specifies a 6,800 mAh battery and 80 W charging for the Nord 5. The comparison source lists 6,500 mAh and 90 W for the Motorola. The higher stated capacity does not prove longer battery life, and the higher charging wattage does not establish a specific time to full charge. OnePlus says its own battery data are measured under controlled conditions and actual results vary; those estimates are not a head-to-head endurance test.

Protection and software

The comparison source lists IP65 for the Nord 5 and IP68/IP69 for the Motorola, as well as Android 15 and Android 16 respectively. These entries describe what that source reports; verify the rating and shipped software for the exact Indian variant. OnePlus’s stated support commitment for the Nord 5 is “4 Android versions, 6-year security” on its India product page. That commitment should not be assumed to apply to Motorola.

What the listed prices show—and why they do not give a clean difference

India-facing price observations checked on October 7, 2026 vary by source and are not matched transactions. The Motorola India Edge family page showed the Edge 70 Pro in 8 GB/256 GB and 12 GB/256 GB configurations, with ₹51,999 MRP and an observed selling price of ₹39,999. The OnePlus India Nord 5 page displayed “From ₹33,999.” Separately, MySmartPrice listed the Nord 5 at ₹43,999 via Flipkart and the Edge 70 Pro 5G at ₹38,815 via Amazon.

These figures do not establish a dependable price difference: they come from different sellers and page contexts, and the Nord 5 starting price is not necessarily the same configuration as the separate listing. Check the same RAM/storage tier and compare the final price, seller, stock, taxes and offer terms. Bank discounts and exchange offers can also change the amount payable. The figures are specific to India-facing pages and should not be treated as prices in other markets.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Consider the Nord 5 if its listed 6,800 mAh capacity, Snapdragon platform or OnePlus’s stated update commitment matter most to you. Check the live price for the exact configuration you want.
  • Consider the Edge 70 Pro 5G if its listed 90 W charging, 50 MP ultra-wide camera or IP68/IP69 rating better fits your priorities. Verify the rating and variant on the current regional product information.
  • Do not choose on an assumed camera, battery-life or gaming winner. The specifications alone do not answer those real-world questions, and no matched test results are established here.

For a price-led decision, compare both phones at the same RAM and storage level and use current listings from the sellers you would actually buy from. The observed prices above are snapshots, not guaranteed offers.
