The OnePlus 15R and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra suit different priorities: the 15R is a conventional phone with a 6.83-inch screen and a 7,400 mAh typical battery, while Samsung’s premium foldable opens to an 8-inch display and starts at $2,099.99 in the US before trade-in. The Fold8 Ultra is the better fit if its larger unfolded workspace and foldable multitasking are worth the added cost; the OnePlus is the more natural choice if you prefer a regular phone, a high refresh rate, and a larger stated battery. Those battery capacities do not, by themselves, prove which phone lasts longer.
How the OnePlus 15R and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra differ
This is a comparison between two different phone designs, not a direct match in the same class. The OnePlus 15R has one conventional display. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has a cover screen for folded use and a larger inner screen for use when unfolded.
That difference shapes the decision: choose based on whether you want a conventional phone or an expandable workspace, then weigh the other specifications and local prices.

What the display and design mean in everyday use
OnePlus 15R: one large conventional screen
The OnePlus 15R’s 6.83-inch screen offers a single display for ordinary phone use. OnePlus lists adaptive refresh rates of 60, 90, 120, 144, and 165 Hz. The two highest rates are limited to listed apps, so 165 Hz should not be assumed to apply across every app or activity.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: cover screen plus unfolded workspace
The Fold8 Ultra has a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch inner display. Its defining advantage is the ability to unfold into a larger workspace; the 15R does not offer that foldable screen arrangement. If you expect to use the inner screen for multitasking or creative work, consider whether that workflow matters enough to justify the premium. Samsung describes the phone as built for demanding creative workflows, but that is the company’s product positioning rather than an independent performance finding.

Battery: capacity is not a runtime test
OnePlus specifies a 7,400 mAh typical-capacity battery, compared with Samsung’s 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung advertises up to 27 hours of video playback for the Fold8 Ultra. That figure is a manufacturer claim for video playback, not an apples-to-apples endurance test against the OnePlus 15R. No independent, like-for-like battery result for these two devices is established here, so the capacity figures alone cannot determine which lasts longer in daily use.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Camera systems and what the specifications establish
The OnePlus 15R’s listed main camera is a 50 MP Sony IMX906 sensor with optical image stabilization. Samsung lists a 200 MP wide camera, along with a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 10 MP telephoto camera offering 3× optical zoom in its product FAQ. Samsung therefore lists more focal-length options, while the OnePlus specification cited here identifies its main camera. Megapixel counts and camera specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos; no independent, like-for-like camera result for these devices is available here.

Price, protection, and S Pen support
Samsung states that the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra does not support S Pen. Its product page recommends its magnetic case range for protection and alignment with compatible wireless charging and magnetic accessories. Confirm that a specific case or accessory is compatible with your regional phone model before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhich is better for you?
- Choose the OnePlus 15R if you want a conventional smartphone, value its listed high-refresh-rate display, or prioritize its larger stated battery capacity. Capacity alone does not establish longer runtime.
- Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if you will use both its cover screen and 8-inch inner display, and the foldable workspace justifies its premium for you.
- Compare local prices before deciding if cost is central: the available figures are from different markets and retailers, and Samsung’s US starting price is before trade-in.
Samsung reported that pre-orders for its new Galaxy Z lineup increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation. That is Samsung’s figure for the lineup collectively, not a Fold8 Ultra-only sales result. Its August 6, 2026 launch announcement described the Fold8 Ultra as combining a larger workspace with an upgraded camera system and performance for demanding creative workflows; those are the company’s claims, not independent comparative test findings.
