The Omega OO986X is a 90 cm electric built-in oven with a listed 84 L capacity, seven cooking functions and nine shelf positions. Its published specifications cover a useful set of conventional cooking modes, but the evidence available for judging performance is limited: retailer reviews are mixed and anecdotal, and the accessible CHOICE page does not reveal its expert test results. The model is marked discontinued by CHOICE, while Andoo says it is no longer available, so treat it as a review of an existing oven or a possible remaining-stock purchase—not a confirmed current buy.

The specification sheet was updated on 23 December 2016. The product page and sheet give the same external dimensions, but those measurements are not a substitute for the oven’s installation diagrams or a measurement of your cabinet opening. The sheet also identifies Italy as the country of manufacture. Appliances Online’s OO986X product page and its hosted specification sheet are the sources for the retailer and manufacturer-listed details.
Cooking functions and included accessories
Appliances Online lists fan-forced cooking, fan grill, full grill, top and bottom heating, and bottom heat with fan among the OO986X functions. It also lists an internal light and cooling fan. The product listing describes a touch-control programmable timer and digital clock, alongside the specification sheet’s touch-and-knob control description.

Listed accessories are two chrome wire shelves, one baking tray, one grill pan, one grill insert, one grill handle and two telescopic runners. Confirm what is included if you are considering an individual remaining-stock listing or buying a used unit: a product-page accessory list does not establish what a particular seller or second-hand owner will supply.

The temperature specification is unresolved
Omega’s specification sheet lists a maximum temperature of 250°C, while Appliances Online’s product listing says 270°C. The available sources do not resolve which figure applies to every OO986X. Check the rating plate on the specific oven or current Omega documentation before relying on a maximum-temperature claim, especially if a recipe or cooking requirement depends on it.
What the available reviews can—and cannot—tell you
Appliances Online displays 12 customer reviews with an average rating of 3.4. Its visible distribution is three five-star, five four-star, no three-star, two two-star and two one-star reviews. The excerpts include praise that the oven does the job, a complaint about a faulty factory finish on an initial unit and a cooling fan reportedly running for about an hour after switch-off, as well as difficulty understanding the clock-setting instructions. These are individual customer accounts, not controlled measurements; the excerpts may not represent every review.

CHOICE has an OO986X listing and identifies it as a 90 cm wall oven, but its expert rating, pros and cons, and much of the testing detail require membership. The public listing marks the oven discontinued. Because the accessible information does not expose the test results, it cannot support a claim that CHOICE found the oven either good or poor in testing. CHOICE’s OO986X listing provides the public status information.

Does the OO986X still make sense to buy?
Availability is uncertain. CHOICE marks the model discontinued, Andoo says it is no longer available, and Appliances Online still hosts product information. A retained product page does not prove stock exists. CHOICE displays $1,799 on its page accessed 7 October 2026, but because the model is marked discontinued, that is a displayed page figure—not evidence of a current offer or transaction price. Check with the retailer for live stock, delivery to your location and the price before making a decision. Andoo’s OO986X page shows its availability message.
If you are replacing an existing OO986X, prioritize matching the cabinet cut-out, electrical requirements and available service parts. If buying a replacement oven, compare usable capacity and internal dimensions, width and installation fit, cooking modes, controls, included accessories, warranty, connection requirements, parts support and verified price. A nominal 90 cm width alone does not establish that another oven will fit without cabinet changes.

Installation and maintenance considerations
Measure the cabinet and follow the model manual
The listed external dimensions are 477 × 893 × 550 mm, but installation requires the actual cabinet cut-out dimensions and clearances specified by the manual. Its diagrams cover installation and electrical installation; the technical sheet cautions that manufacturer dimensions may vary. The manual covers both OO986X and OO757X, so make sure the instructions and diagrams you use apply to the exact model and installation.
Plan for hardwiring
The technical sheet specifies a hardwired 240 V, 50 Hz connection and a maximum current of 15 A. Appliances Online says hardwiring must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Do not treat the oven as a plug-in appliance or attempt electrical installation yourself; use a qualified installer and comply with applicable local requirements. Replacing the oven light
The manual’s light-replacement instructions call for switching off power at the main supply before removing the lens. The oven and light must be cool, the replacement bulb must match the original voltage and wattage, and the glass lens must be refitted before the oven is used. Follow the complete manual procedure; get qualified assistance if you are unsure or the work involves electrical components beyond the stated bulb replacement.
Parts and service for a discontinued model
A parts supplier lists OO986X parts and displays user-reported examples involving door-seal and heating-element repairs. Those reports show that model-specific parts information exists, but they do not establish the oven’s typical failure points, repair difficulty or failure rate. Before ordering, match the part number to the appliance’s exact model and serial details and confirm that the part is currently in stock. For service, provide the technician with the model and serial information from the oven’s rating plate. With a discontinued appliance, confirm parts availability and repair options before assuming a particular component can still be obtained.
