The Omega OI64Z is a 60cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a black frameless ceramic-glass surface and slide/touch controls. Its published specifications make the key buying checks clear: a 560 × 490 mm benchtop cutout, hardwired electrical connection, and magnetic induction-compatible cookware. This is a specification-led assessment, not a firsthand test; the available information does not establish cooking speed, noise, durability or value against current alternatives.
What the Omega OI64Z is
Omega’s OI64Z specification sheet, updated 18 January 2017, describes a 60cm four-zone induction cooktop with black frameless ceramic glass and slide controls. The retailer describes its controls as slide/touch. This review concerns the exact model number OI64Z: it is not the similarly named OCI64Z, whose separate specifications should not be applied here.
The sheet lists four cooking zones, nine power levels plus Boost, auto heat-up, timers of up to 99 minutes for all zones, a minute minder, audible signals, child lock, residual-heat indicator, pause, pot detection and overflow detection. These measurements are from Omega’s 2017 specification sheet and are also listed by the retailer. A “60cm” label alone does not guarantee that the cooktop will fit your existing opening: check both the cutout and the space and clearance required by the installation documentation. Omega warns that drawings are indicative, dimensions may change, and the benchtop opening should be based on physical measurements. The two larger zones are on the right-front and left-rear; the smaller pair is left-front and right-rear. These are the zone ratings published for the OI64Z, not measured cooking performance. Do not substitute figures for the OCI64Z, a different model.
Electrical connection and installation
The OI64Z is specified for a hardwired connection at 220–240 V, 50 Hz, with a maximum current of 32 A. It is not described as a plug-in appliance. Appliances Online says installation requires a qualified electrician, and the OI64Z manual states that the electrical connection should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the guide and current regulations. What cookware works?
Induction needs cookware with magnetic material in its base. The retailer specifies magnetic cookware, while the manual calls for suitable induction pans with stable, flat bases. Check the pan’s induction symbol or its manufacturer’s information rather than assuming that every pan made from a particular material—or every pan from a given brand—will work. Warranty and what this review can establish
Omega’s 2017 sheet lists a 24-month parts-and-labour warranty. Warranty terms can depend on the seller and purchase, so confirm the coverage that applies to your order before buying. The same sheet says “Made in: Europe”; it does not identify a specific country.
