The Omega OCI604PPTZ is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop that Omega specifies for a 10 A connection, with power shared between zones when more than one is in use. That design can suit a kitchen where the available supply is limited, but it does not make the cooktop a proven performer. Omega’s claims describe how the unit is designed to operate, and the independent results that would show how it actually heats are members-only at CHOICE. This guide separates what the manufacturer states, what the installation manual requires, and what Australian buyers can check before ordering.
What the OCI604PPTZ is and what it specifies
The OCI604PPTZ is sold as a free-standing-style 60 cm induction cooktop with four cooking zones. Omega’s Australian product page lists it as a 10 A power-phasing model. The figures below come from Omega’s product page (current listing, checked in 2026), its installation manual (November 2024 version) and CHOICE’s public listing (2026).

How 10 A power phasing works in practice
Omega states that the power-phasing algorithm divides power between the zones in use while staying within a 10 A connection. The product page does not publish the split for any combination of zones, so the exact output of each zone under load cannot be predicted from the listing.
A simple calculation shows the scale involved. At 240 V, 10 A equals 2400 W, which matches the installed power in the manual. At 220 V, the bottom of the stated supply range, the same 10 A equals 2200 W. These are arithmetic values, not measurements of the cooktop, but they explain why the connection rating matters: the total available to all zones is set by the supply, not by the sum of the zone ratings.
#1 Best Overall
- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Zone sizes and rated outputs
| Zone diameter | Number of zones | Rated output as printed in the manual |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm | 2 | 1200/1500 W |
| 180 mm | 1 | 1800/2100 W |
| 210 mm | 1 | 1800/2100 W |
The manual prints two figures for each zone. Read its zone-power section to confirm what each figure represents before comparing these outputs with other cooktops, because the two values are not explained in the product listing. Under power sharing, none of the zones can be expected to reach its printed maximum at the same time on a 10 A connection.
Who the power-sharing design suits
- Kitchens where the supply is constrained and the cooktop is the main draw on the circuit.
- Cooks who mostly use one or two zones at a time and rarely need all four at full output.
- Buyers who want the zone layout of a four-zone 60 cm unit and accept that simultaneous high output will be divided.
Buyers who regularly boil large volumes on several zones at once, or who expect each zone to deliver its full rating together, should look at how other cooktops handle shared power before deciding.
Installation, fit and electrical checks
The OCI604PPTZ is marketed as a plug-in unit with a 10 A plug, but the manual makes the installation conditions clear. Check each step below before the cooktop is ordered or delivered.

With no open flame or heating element, food does not burn onto the glass cooktop, making it easy to clean greasy dirt.
- Measure the cut-out. The manual specifies a benchtop cut-out of 560 × 490 mm. Measure the existing opening, not the old cooktop’s listing.
- Check the overall footprint and clearances. The manual lists overall dimensions of 590 × 520 × 58 mm and provides installation diagrams. Confirm the space needed around and below the unit against those diagrams.
- Confirm ventilation. Check the manual’s ventilation requirements for your benchtop and cabinetry before the unit is fitted.
- Identify your supply. Confirm that the outlet and wiring suit a 10 A connection and the 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz specification. Use the model-specific electrical connection diagrams in the manual.
- Check the plug. If the cooktop does not come with a 10 A plug, the manual requires an authorised technician to make the connection.
- Plan for cable issues. The power cord is 100 cm long. If the cable is damaged, the manual says it must be replaced by a properly qualified person.
Plug-in convenience does not replace these checks. Whether the unit can be installed without an electrician depends on the connection supplied and the kitchen setup, so confirm both before assuming a do-it-yourself installation.
Cookware, controls and safety functions
Induction cooking requires cookware with a magnetic base. The manual warns that cookware must be suitable for induction and includes cookware-size guidance. A simple check is to hold a fridge magnet to the base of the pan: if it does not stick firmly, the pan will not work on the zone. Use the manual’s size guidance rather than assuming a particular pan diameter will perform well on every zone.
Omega describes these features for the OCI604PPTZ:
- Front touch controls with an LED display.
- Automatic pan detection, which the manufacturer describes as recognising cookware on the zone.
- Child lock.
- A 99-minute zone timer.
- A 120-minute automatic safety shut-off.
These are manufacturer descriptions of the controls and safety functions. Independent testing has not been published to show how reliably they work in practice.

- 【CHECK YOUR PAN FIRST — MAGNET TEST + FLAT BASE 4 –10 IN】Works only with magnetic, flat-bottom cookware: cast iron, magnetic 430 stainless steel, or enameled iron. Fridge-magnet test on the flat bottom: clings = works; slides = no heat. Not for aluminum, copper, glass, ceramic, or non-magnetic 304 stainless steel. Measure the flat magnetic base, not the rim: 4 –10 in (10–26 cm). Round-bottom/warped pans or small magnetic dots won’t work. “E0” = pan mismatch, not a defect.

Before you buy: a short checklist
- Your benchtop cut-out matches 560 × 490 mm and your ventilation meets the manual.
- Your outlet and wiring suit a 10 A connection, and you know whether a technician is needed.
- Your existing pans pass the magnet test and fit the zones that you use most.
- Your cooking routine is compatible with shared power across zones.
- You have confirmed the current price and warranty terms with Omega or the retailer.
If you are comparing it with other 60 cm induction cooktops, use the same criteria for each: connection rating and whether power is shared, zone sizes and outputs, cut-out dimensions, controls and safety functions, warranty, and independent measured results. Independent measured results for competing models are not covered here, so a head-to-head ranking is not offered.
”
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Omega OCI604PPTZ is a four-zone, 60 cm induction cooktop built around a 10 A connection and manufacturer-described power sharing. It is worth considering for a constrained supply and a mainly one-or-two-zone cooking routine, provided the cut-out, ventilation and electrical connection pass the manual’s checks. Its measured heating performance and reliability cannot be confirmed from public sources, so judge it on fit and stated design rather than on independent test results.
