The Omega Altise OADE20 is a discontinued refrigeration dehumidifier whose manual claims up to 20 litres of moisture removal per day only under the specific test condition of 30°C and 80% relative humidity. The published figure is not an independent performance result or a guarantee for every room. CHOICE identifies the model as discontinued, and Andoo says its listing is no longer available; check any remaining or second-hand unit’s condition and included parts before buying.
What does the OADE20’s 20 L/day rating mean?
Omega Altise’s OADE16/OADE20 manual, reference OADE1620 05/2014/06, specifies a claimed extraction capacity of 20 L/day at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. That warm, humid condition matters: the figure describes the manufacturer’s stated capacity under that condition, not what the unit will remove in a cooler or drier room. What controls and functions does it have?
The manual documents continuous operation and percentage humidity targets, high and low fan speeds, a timer, display, castors and a dryer function intended to remove moisture quickly, such as when clothes are drying indoors. It also lists ioniser and TiO2 controls. Those are documented features; the manual does not establish independent evidence here for health, sterilisation or deodorising benefits.
How do you empty the tank or set up continuous drainage?
The tank holds 5 L. When it is full or incorrectly positioned, the manual says the compressor stops and the full-water indicator turns red. Empty and correctly reseat the tank to resume operation.

For continuous drainage, the manual specifies tubing with an 11 mm inner diameter connected to the drain hole. Ensure the tube fits securely and water can flow freely; periodically check that it continues to drain, and protect the line from freezing. Verify the connection against the actual appliance and manual before buying a tube, since a stated diameter alone does not confirm fit with every hose or unit.

How should you place and maintain the OADE20?
- Place it on a level surface and leave at least 10 cm of space on each side for airflow, as the manual advises.
- Close outside doors and windows when appropriate for more efficient operation.
- Switch the unit off and empty the tank before moving it.
- Remove and wash the plastic filter, then let it dry completely before replacing it.
- The manual says the active carbon filter cannot be cleaned; check it periodically and replace it if necessary. It does not provide a replacement SKU or seller, so confirm filter compatibility before ordering.
What can you verify from independent testing?
CHOICE’s public OADE-20 page marks the model discontinued. It lists the claimed 20 L/day removal, 5–32°C operating range, two fan speeds and 11 kg weight, but its CHOICE Expert Rating and water-removal, energy, claimed-water-removal and ease-of-use scores are members-only. Power consumption, noise, measured tank capacity and running-cost measures are also not visible publicly. No test verdict or measured result should be inferred from the accessible listing. Is the OADE20 still available, and is it the same as Omega Altise’s current 20L model?
CHOICE marks the OADE-20 discontinued, and Andoo’s OADE20 listing says it is no longer available. These listings indicate that the exact model is not normally offered as a current product; they do not prove that no remaining, used or refurbished units exist. Andoo’s page also records a single customer review dated 21 April 2017, which is anecdotal rather than a performance test. Do not assume that current Omega Altise range specifications describe the older OADE20. The visible 16L variant on Omega Altise’s current product page lists a 3.7 L tank, 12.5 kg net weight and two-year warranty, among other features; those details differ from the older model’s manual and are not OADE20 specifications. What should you check before buying a used unit?
- Confirm the model label says OADE20, rather than relying on a listing title or newer range description.
- Check that it powers on, the tank seats correctly, the full-water indicator works, and the unit runs without obvious airflow obstruction.
- Inspect the plastic and active carbon filters and ask whether a compatible replacement carbon filter is available.
- Check whether a drain hose is included and confirm its fit; the older manual specifies an 11 mm inner diameter.
- Ask what warranty, if any, applies to that particular unit. Andoo’s listing states two years for its product, but that does not establish coverage for a second-hand purchase.
For comparison with another dehumidifier, look for extraction rates tied to stated temperature and humidity conditions, measured energy use and noise, drainage options, operating temperature range, ease of handling, warranty and current availability. Several of CHOICE’s measured OADE-20 results are not publicly accessible, so those comparisons cannot be completed from its public page.
