Yes. If you shared a file by link, the file’s owner name and email address can be visible to people who open that link, and the link keeps working until you change its sharing settings or stop sharing it. Finding the old link, checking its audience, and restricting or stopping it is usually a few minutes of work, but you have to check each item, because removing one person’s access does not always remove the link.
What Google Drive says about your email on a shared link
Google Drive’s help documentation states the point directly: “When you share a link to a file, your name and email will be visible as the owner of that file.” This is a statement about Google Drive. It tells you that the owner identity is part of the sharing experience for a link-shared file, so a link you created months ago can still reveal your address to whoever holds it.
Google’s sharing guide also separates three audience levels, and they behave differently:

Find the links you shared
Old links are easy to lose track of because they were created in different places: a shared folder, a message, a document you sent once and forgot. Start with the shared-files view of the service where the file lives.

- Google Drive: Search for the file by name, or check your shared items, then open the file’s sharing dialog and review the General access setting.
- OneDrive: Open the Shared view. It lists items you shared with others and items shared with you. Select the item, then go to Info and choose Manage access to see its link entries.
- Dropbox: The sources reviewed for this article describe the link and recipient behavior but do not give a current menu path, so check the sharing settings for the specific file or folder in your Dropbox account.
Work through the list item by item. A folder link can expose files inside it that you never shared individually, so review the parent folder as well as its contents.
Restrict the link or stop sharing it
Once you find the item, decide whether the collaboration is over. If it is, stop sharing or delete the link. If the file still needs to reach particular people, use a narrower link type.

- Open the sharing or access panel for the specific file or folder.
- In Google Drive, change General access from Anyone with the link or Public to Restricted, then confirm the change.
- In OneDrive or SharePoint, open Manage access and remove or revoke the link entry. Microsoft says a Specific people link works only for the people you named, who must authenticate, while an Anyone link can be forwarded to others.
- Reopen the access panel and confirm that the link type and audience are what you expect.
Microsoft’s documentation describes the two link types in plain terms. An Anyone link is “transferable because it can be forwarded to others” and “revocable because you can revoke access for everyone who used the link by deleting it.” Deleting the link therefore ends access for everyone who was using it, not just one person.

Removing one person does not necessarily disable the link
This is the most common gap. Dropbox’s documentation distinguishes removing a recipient’s own access from the owner turning off the link itself. If the URL is still active, the people who still hold it can use it again. Remove the person and leave the link on, and the link remains a route in.

Other routes can also keep access alive after you change the link. These include direct grants to a person, membership in a shared folder, team membership, and ownership. If access persists after you have changed the link, check each of these. Where the file belongs to an organization, an administrator may need to change inherited or managed access.
A view-only setting is not a privacy setting
View-only limits what a recipient can change. It does not decide who can open the file or whether your identity is shown. If the audience is “Anyone with the link,” a view-only file can still be opened by anyone holding the URL, and for Google Drive the owner’s name and email remain visible on that link. To protect identity and access together, change the audience first and then consider the permission level.

What the available evidence does and does not establish
The Google statement is specific to Google Drive. Microsoft’s and Dropbox’s documentation supports the link and permission distinctions described above, but it does not show that every cloud service displays the same identity information or revokes access in the same way. Administrators and account or plan settings can also limit which controls you can use. No reliable public figure was found for how often people forget shared links or how often email addresses are exposed this way, so this article does not offer one.
