Offcanvas V10 is a free Colorlib dashboard sidebar snippet: it collapses to an icon rail and expands to show navigation labels. Colorlib says it is built with HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript, requires no Bootstrap files or jQuery, and can be used in Bootstrap projects. It is a standalone sidebar pattern, not Bootstrap’s native offcanvas component.
What Offcanvas V10 includes
Colorlib presents V10 for admin dashboards, analytics tools, and web apps with several navigation sections. Its dark sidebar can expand into a labelled menu; in the collapsed state, icons are accompanied by labels on hover and keyboard focus. The publisher also describes a badge and signed-in-user area. These are Colorlib’s feature descriptions, not independently verified behavior.

Colorlib says the sidebar floats over page content when expanded on phones rather than narrowing the content area. It also describes a saved rail state using localStorage with a guarded fallback, and transitions that are disabled for reduced-motion preferences. The available information does not establish an independent accessibility audit, browser test, performance result, or user study specific to V10.
Offcanvas V10 versus Bootstrap’s native offcanvas
The word “offcanvas” can refer to a general interface pattern or Bootstrap’s specific component. V10 is Colorlib’s separately styled, collapsible dashboard sidebar. Bootstrap’s native offcanvas is a framework component with its own JavaScript behavior and markup. Bootstrap’s v5.0 documentation describes its default backdrop this way: “When shown, offcanvas includes a default backdrop that can be clicked to hide the offcanvas.” That describes Bootstrap’s component, not Colorlib V10.

| Question | Colorlib Offcanvas V10 | Bootstrap native offcanvas |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | A collapsible dashboard sidebar snippet, according to Colorlib. | A Bootstrap framework component documented in Bootstrap 5. |
| Dependencies | Colorlib says it uses plain HTML and CSS plus vanilla JavaScript and does not require Bootstrap files, jQuery, or plugins. | Part of Bootstrap; consult the documentation for the version used in your project. |
| Typical behavior | A persistent icon rail that expands to show labels; Colorlib describes an overlay on phones. | A JavaScript-controlled panel with placement options, a default backdrop, configurable body scrolling, and keyboard dismissal. |
| Accessibility markup | Colorlib describes screen-reader labels and labels shown on keyboard focus; these claims have not been independently tested. | Bootstrap’s documentation includes accessibility guidance such as labelling the panel with aria-labelledby and uses tabindex="-1" in its example. |
Bootstrap’s migration guide identifies offcanvas as a new component in Bootstrap 5. So V10’s stated ability to work in Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects means the standalone snippet can be used in those projects; it does not mean Bootstrap 4 has a native offcanvas component, nor that V10 becomes Bootstrap’s plugin.
Which approach should you choose?
- Choose V10 if the interface calls for a dashboard sidebar that can remain as an icon rail and expand to reveal its sections, and you are prepared to integrate and verify a separate snippet.
- Choose Bootstrap’s native component if you need a temporary drawer that follows Bootstrap’s documented behavior and fits the framework’s component conventions.
- Check the interaction model before adopting either: consider whether opening the panel should push or reflow desktop content or overlay it, and whether mobile behavior should differ.
- Verify accessibility and motion behavior in the implementation. Publisher descriptions are useful starting points, not a substitute for checking keyboard access, assistive-technology labels, focus behavior, and reduced-motion settings in your own interface.
Download, size, and license
Colorlib lists the download as 156 KB and labels the release September 2026. The size is the publisher’s stated figure, not an independently measured archive size. The V10 page lists CC BY 3.0. Colorlib’s guide says its snippets may be used in personal and commercial projects with the credit link retained. Review the license included with the downloaded files, especially before redistributing the package.
