Nintendo’s roughly five-minute overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2 confirms a substantial replay feature: the new Hall of Fallen Foes lets players inspect statues of defeated monsters and challenge those bosses again in timed runs. The remake launches worldwide on November 5, 2026.
What the new trailer adds
The Hall of Fallen Foes is a gallery-like area that records enemies Link has defeated. Each monster receives a statue, and examining one provides information about that enemy. More importantly, the gallery allows repeat boss battles after the original encounter is over.
Reports describe these rematches as timed runs. That gives the remake a clear post-game activity: return to a completed fight, defeat the boss again and compare how quickly you can finish. Nintendo has not confirmed online leaderboards, selectable difficulty modifiers or new phases for any named boss, so those features should not be assumed.
Nintendo’s accompanying description calls the location the “Hall of Fallen Heroes,” while reporting on the trailer uses “Hall of Fallen Foes.” Both descriptions refer to the same new statue gallery and rematch feature.
#1 Best Overall
- Become the Hero of Time and save Hyrule from darkness
- Venture into dungeons, solve puzzles, and travel across time in two different eras to restore balance to the land
- A classic tale, reborn for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, featuring voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, visuals built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2, and more
- Play Link’s in-game ocarina by humming or singing into the Nintendo Switch 2 system microphone
Why timed rematches change the experience
A traditional Ocarina of Time boss is a one-time story obstacle unless a player starts a new file or uses an external workaround. The gallery turns each victory into a permanent collection entry and supplies a reason to revisit the remake’s rebuilt combat presentation.
Timed attempts also create a simple personal challenge without requiring Nintendo to redesign the original encounters. Players can work on cleaner movement, faster item selection and more efficient attack patterns, then use their completion time as the measure of improvement. The trailer does not establish whether times are saved globally, shared online or ranked against other players.
Rank #2
- Ferocious Competition - At the heart of Puyo Puyo Tetris is the fighting spirit of players competing against each other to be most clever, cunning, and quick-witted one to set up devastating attacks on opponents. It's the classic easy-to-learn puzzles mashed up into a multiplayer battle like no other!
- Adventure Mode - The game also has a single player mode with ten unique acts, eatch with ten stages. They feature different characters from the Puyo Puyo or Tetris universes and have unique challenges to learn and master game mechanics that players must overcome!
- Arcade Modes - Online play has Puzzle League, which tracks players' ratings, players can save replays to upload and share, and more.
- There's also an in-game shop players can use their points to unlock different Puyo and Tetrimino skins, background music, stages, and more.
Can you replay bosses in the Switch 2 remake?
Yes. After defeating monsters, their statues appear in the Hall of Fallen Foes, where players can examine them and initiate rematch battles. The available reporting characterizes those battles as timed runs. Nintendo has not published a complete list of eligible bosses or explained whether every major encounter is included.
Other confirmed and reported upgrades
Rebuilt presentation
The remake features rebuilt visuals, fully voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue and symphonic orchestral music. These changes update the way the story and boss scenes are presented, but no measured resolution, frame-rate or loading-time improvement has been published.
Rank #3
Movement and camera changes
Reported modernization includes jumping, dashing, freer camera movement and quicker item selection. These changes should make navigation and combat feel less constrained than in the Nintendo 64 release, although Nintendo has not supplied a performance benchmark.
Microphone-responsive ocarina
The Switch 2 microphone can recognize a melody in two ways. Nintendo says players may hum a melody Link has learned or play one on an actual instrument; the microphone then hears the song and causes Link’s in-game ocarina to respond. The feature is an optional input method, and the trailer does not specify which instruments, volume levels or environmental conditions are supported.
Rank #4
- Build whatever you can imagine in your own infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
Zelda Notes and amiibo
The remake supports Zelda Notes and includes amiibo rewards. Existing Zelda amiibo can provide in-game items. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are announced for 2027 and unlock special masks, but those figures should not be treated as currently orderable without a verified retailer listing.

Release date and reported pricing
Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 launches worldwide on November 5, 2026. Nintendo and Notebookcheck reporting in 2026 lists the digital edition at $59.99 and the physical edition at $69.99 in the United States. Those are reported prices, and exact retailer listings should be checked before ordering because availability and final pricing can change.
| Edition | Reported US price | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Digital | $59.99 | Reported by Nintendo/Notebookcheck in 2026 |
| Physical | $69.99 | Reported by Nintendo/Notebookcheck in 2026; verify retailer listing |
Is the physical edition worth pre-ordering?
The physical copy costs a reported $10 more than the digital version and is the practical choice for players who want a boxed game or a collectible cartridge. The available information does not confirm exclusive physical bonuses, early access or a special soundtrack. If those extras matter, wait for a retailer listing that spells them out rather than assuming the standard box includes them.
