The announced Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time keeps its familiar characters but gives many of them more visible costume, material, and accessory detail. That changes what stands out when you look at them: clothing construction, equipment, and decorative motifs become easier to notice. The comparisons document those visual differences, but Nintendo has not publicly explained the specific intent behind each redesign.

In practical terms, the documented changes concern the finish and articulation of designs: patterned belts, visible stitching, embroidery, material contrasts, and more apparent equipment or armor. Those are not all the same kind of change. Some draw attention to a garment’s construction; others emphasize decoration or a character’s gear. Materials can make clothing feel less uniform
The comparison calls out leather and cloth on Ganondorf, and a changed tunic treatment on Saria. When different materials or surfaces are more apparent, a costume may feel less like one uninterrupted block of color and more like a collection of separate garments or components. That is a visual reading of the images, not evidence of a stated theme.
Material contrast can affect how a viewer groups the parts of an outfit. Leather and cloth may read as distinct surfaces; a tunic treated differently may become more clearly separated from the rest of the design. Those effects can make a costume seem more layered or tactile. But the documented observations do not provide a technical material specification, and the visual comparison alone cannot establish what a fictional garment would be made from in-world.
Equipment and armor shift attention toward function

A claim that a motif was added to communicate a particular new idea would require a developer explanation; the sources available here do not provide one.

That means a fair comparison should avoid treating every difference as a redesign of the character’s underlying identity. In the details documented here, several changes concern how a garment, accessory, or material is rendered. These can produce a more elaborate impression without, by themselves, demonstrating a different characterization.

The difference between a character comparison and a game-feature report should remain clear. The visual side-by-side observations help identify specific changes to costumes. Nintendo’s announcement establishes broader remake features. Game Informer reports additional details shown in a presentation.
