Nintendo’s official release date for the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is November 5, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2. November 14 comes from an October 15 EL PAÍS article and conflicts with Nintendo’s US, UK and Australian announcements and product listing. Until Nintendo changes its listing, November 5 is the date buyers should use.
Nintendo’s official date is November 5
Nintendo has published November 5, 2026 consistently across its announcement material and store information. The company’s official product page labels the game “Release date November 5, 2026,” while Nintendo’s US announcement, UK Direct page and Australian announcement use the same date.

The November 14 date is therefore best treated as an editorial or sourcing error, not as an equal alternative. Release dates can change, but any change would need to appear in Nintendo’s own regional listings or a new Nintendo announcement.

Why November 14 appeared
EL PAÍS printed November 14 in an October 15 article about the remake that also quotes Zelda author Salva Fernández. That article does not identify a Nintendo announcement supporting the later date. Because Nintendo’s primary pages agree on November 5, the newspaper’s date has no corroboration in the official material currently available.

If a retailer, search result or social post displays November 14, check the retailer’s regional listing against Nintendo’s product page before changing an order. Retail databases sometimes carry provisional dates or transcription mistakes; Nintendo’s listing is the stronger reference for this launch.
What is being remade for Switch 2
This is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive rather than a game announced for the original Nintendo Switch. Nintendo describes a broad rebuild, not a simple resolution patch:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - for Nintendo 64 USA Version

Nintendo has not published a defensible sales figure, review score or performance benchmark for the unreleased game. Claims about frame rate, resolution or review reception should not be treated as confirmed until Nintendo or reliable testing supplies them.
Physical edition and textured foil packaging
Nintendo says the first print run of the physical game will use special textured foil cover packaging. It is available while supplies last, so later physical production may use standard packaging. The foil feature applies to the first print run; it does not establish that every copy sold after launch will have the same cover.
Nintendo’s published UK price is £49.99. That figure is for the UK listing and does not establish pricing in the United States, Australia or other regions. The available announcements do not state a digital price, nor do they say that the physical first-print packaging will be included with a download purchase.

Anniversary hardware and accessories
Nintendo also announced a Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 system, a Switch 2 Pro Controller and a carrying case with screen protector. The Australian announcement places those products before the game’s launch, but they are related hardware and accessories rather than proof that the game is bundled with the console.

Do not assume an anniversary system includes the remake unless a specific retailer listing says so. Nintendo’s announcements treat the console, controller and case as separate products. Availability and regional pricing can change, and no universal stock level has been announced.
Retail launch-night stock
Retail reporting said Best Buy planned late-night openings for the November 5 launch with limited anniversary-hardware stock. That is a retailer-specific plan, not a guarantee that every store will open late or have a console available. Check the individual store’s current pickup, opening-hours and reservation information before traveling.

- Confirm the date. Use Nintendo’s regional product page and look for November 5, 2026; treat November 14 references as unconfirmed unless Nintendo updates its listing.
- Choose the edition. The game is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, so an original Switch copy is not an announced option for this remake.
- Decide whether packaging matters. Order a physical first-print copy while the textured foil supply lasts if that collector feature is important; Nintendo has not promised how long it will remain available.
- Check the exact product description. A Zelda 40th Anniversary console, Pro Controller or carrying case is not automatically a game bundle.
- Verify regional terms. Compare the currency, delivery date, stock status and cancellation policy shown by your local retailer; £49.99 is the published UK price, not a worldwide price.
Bottom line on the date clash
For planning a purchase, taking launch day off work or checking first-print packaging, use November 5, 2026. November 14 is a single conflicting newspaper report, while Nintendo’s official pages across several regions agree on November 5. The remake launches as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive with substantial visual, audio, dialogue and control changes, and its first physical print run has textured foil packaging while supplies last.
