NVIDIA announced its GeForce RTX 5060 desktop family on April 15, 2025, with launch prices from $299 to $429 in the US. That put each announced desktop configuration below $500 at launch. It does not guarantee a card can be bought for less than $500 now: in Tom’s Hardware’s August 10, 2026 snapshot of tracked US Newegg listings, the RTX 5060 Ti models had median prices above that threshold.
What NVIDIA announced
The announcement covered the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti desktop graphics cards, as well as RTX 5060 Laptop GPUs. NVIDIA positioned the desktop family as its lower-priced Blackwell generation offering. Its April 15, 2025 press release said the RTX 5060 Ti would go on sale first, followed by RTX 5060 cards in May.

NVIDIA vice president of GeForce marketing Matt Wuebbling described the family as offering “next-generation performance and AI-enhanced visuals starting at $299.” That is NVIDIA’s marketing characterization, not an independent performance finding. RTX 5060 family models, memory and launch prices

The laptop announcement was separate: NVIDIA said RTX 5060 Laptop GPU systems would begin arriving in May 2025, with prices starting at $1,099. This is an announcement-era starting price, not a current laptop quote.
RTX 5060 vs. RTX 5060 Ti: what the specifications show
NVIDIA lists both desktop tiers with a 128-bit memory interface and Blackwell architecture. The Ti has more listed CUDA cores and a higher listed boost clock; the 5060 has 8GB of GDDR7, while buyers could choose an 8GB or 16GB Ti. Those specification differences do not, by themselves, establish how much faster a card will be in a particular game or application.
The 16GB Ti offers twice the listed memory capacity of the 8GB Ti, while its launch MSRP was $50 higher. Whether that capacity is worth the difference depends on the buyer’s workload and budget; the available cited specifications do not establish a measured performance gap between the two Ti configurations. NVIDIA lists DLSS 4 capabilities, ray tracing and Reflex support for the family. Those feature listings indicate support, not independently verified results in a specific title. NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 family page lists the specifications and supported features; it marks Reflex 2 Frame Warp as “Coming Soon” on the page cited here.

“Under $500” accurately describes the three desktop configurations’ US launch MSRPs, but it is not a reliable statement about current retail prices. Tom’s Hardware’s August 10, 2026 report gave median prices from its tracked US Newegg listings. It reported $469.99 for RTX 5060, $529.99 for RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and $804.99 for RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
Those are dated medians from one publisher’s tracked listings, not live quotes or prices across all sellers and regions. The same report’s June 2026 medians were $369.99, $469.99 and $569.99, respectively, illustrating how quickly the reported market prices changed. Check a retailer’s current listing for the exact card and memory configuration before buying. Tom’s Hardware’s August 10, 2026 price report describes its tracked Newegg listings and methodology.

NVIDIA’s announcement named board partners for custom desktop cards and said major manufacturers would offer RTX 5060 laptops. These were launch-era availability statements and do not confirm present inventory. NVIDIA’s release said RTX 5060 Ti cards would be available from April 16, 2025, and RTX 5060 cards in May; its product page currently displays May 19 for RTX 5060 availability. The more specific date is the page’s current display, not the wording of the original press release.
Quick Recap
- Confirm the exact model and memory capacity in the product listing, especially for RTX 5060 Ti cards.
- Check the specific board partner card’s dimensions, power requirements, cooling and connector details against the manufacturer’s listing. These details vary by card and are not established by NVIDIA’s family-level specifications cited above.
- Compare the current price with the launch MSRP only as historical context; the launch figures do not guarantee today’s price or stock.
