Novig says trading volume rose nearly 94% and first-time depositors climbed more than 218% in the 20 days before and after its September 9, 2026, Sydney Sweeney campaign launch. Those company-reported figures show growth around the launch, not proof that the campaign alone caused it.
What was the “Just Sports” campaign?
Novig announced its first national brand campaign featuring actor Sydney Sweeney on September 9, 2026. The company presented the “Just Sports” concept as a way to emphasize that its prediction-market platform focuses on sports. Novig also described Sweeney as a strategic partner and equity holder. The company said the ads would run across digital, social, online video, and out-of-home placements during football season. Novig’s announcement quotes Sweeney: “The concept is simple: cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports.” CEO Jacob Fortinsky said, “Sports fans deserve a prediction market built specifically for them.”
Fortinsky later described Sweeney’s role in developing the creative. Speaking at a panel sponsored by Front Office Sports, he said, “It was a very exciting process to work with her both on the commercial side as well as on the creative side. It really was Sydney who was driving a lot of the visuals and the messaging,” according to Front Office Sports’ September 15 report.

An October 3, 2026, report by Democratic Voice USA, reproducing CNBC coverage, said Fortinsky shared figures showing that Novig’s trading volume rose nearly 94% and first-time depositors increased by more than 218% in the 20 days before and after the campaign launch. These are company-reported figures relayed through that coverage; they have not been independently audited in the available account. The report reproducing the CNBC figures does not establish that the campaign caused the increases.
The comparison spans periods on either side of the launch; it is not a controlled test separating the ad’s effect from other factors. Novig had also announced more than $6 billion in cumulative trading volume by its nationwide launch, a company-published figure from August 2026. That cumulative amount is a different measure and does not verify the later growth comparison. Novig’s August launch announcement provides the company’s figure.

What is Novig, and is it a sportsbook?
Novig describes itself as a CFTC-regulated sports prediction market, rather than a sportsbook. According to its help-center explanation, users buy and sell real-money event contracts tied to sports outcomes. Prices move with the market, and users may sell before an event settles. At settlement, a winning contract pays $1 and a losing contract pays $0; a user’s result depends on the price paid and the contract’s eventual value.
This is not the same as a fixed-odds sportsbook bet: the contract’s market price can change before settlement. Novig’s description of its regulatory status is the company’s own; it should not be read as a blanket legal assurance or as confirmation that the service is available everywhere.

Who can use Novig?
Novig’s help center says account holders must be at least 21, complete identity verification, and be physically located in an eligible U.S. jurisdiction when trading. Its listed unavailable states are Arizona, Nevada, and Michigan. Novig’s availability page describes those restrictions. Eligibility rules and locations can change, so check the company’s current requirements before attempting to trade.

The campaign’s “Just Sports” message drew criticism from athletes who said its imagery sexualized women in sport. The Associated Press reported swimmer Ariarne Titmus’s Instagram response: “I can’t describe how infuriated I feel when I watch this.” Sprinter Amy Hunt, after finishing fourth in the 200 meters at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest, said in a post-race interview, “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like.” These are documented reactions from named athletes, not evidence of a universal response. The Associated Press reported on the criticism.
