The Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is a 14-inch all-foam mattress that Costco sold in the US under a Medium firmness label. RTINGS.com tested a Queen unit and rated it Medium-Firm. Its strongest point is motion isolation, its weakest are a slow, less responsive foam feel and edge support that compresses when you sit near the side. The Plus has since been discontinued and replaced by the ComfortGrande Advanced, which uses a different memory foam, so confirm which model a listing names before you buy.
Which model you are looking at
Costco’s US listing for item 1413202 is titled Novaform 14-inch ComfortGrande Plus gel memory foam mattress, Medium, Queen. The listing gives the following details. These are the retailer’s stated specifications, not independent measurements.
| Attribute | Costco US listing (item 1413202) |
|---|---|
| Product | Novaform 14-inch ComfortGrande Plus gel memory foam mattress, Queen |
| Firmness label | Medium (retailer label) |
| Dimensions | 80 × 60 × 14 inches |
| Weight | 91 pounds |
| Included | Mattress only. Bed frame, headboard, and accessories are not included. |
Costco Canada uses a different product name for its listing. It sells a ComfortGrande Plus Advanced Queen, model 3080049, described as a 14-inch, three-layer, medium-feel mattress with a 20-year limited manufacturer warranty. That is the Advanced design sold in Canada, not the US Plus, and its terms should not be applied to the older US model.

Independent test results
RTINGS.com’s review, updated September 17, 2026, tested a Queen unit. Its firmness score is 52 Pa/mm, which RTINGS labels Medium-Firm. Costco’s Medium label is a retail description, while the 52 Pa/mm figure comes from RTINGS’ standardized testing, so the two are not directly comparable. RTINGS also measured its sample at 13.7 inches rather than the listed 14 inches. Its findings apply to the Queen variant it tested.

Side sleepers
- Heavier side sleepers may sink enough to get adequate pressure relief.
- Lighter side sleepers may feel pressure at the arm and shoulder.
Back sleepers
- RTINGS calls it a decent option for lighter back sleepers.
- Average- and heavier-weight back sleepers may sink more than ideal.
Stomach sleepers
- The guidance favors lighter sleepers.
- For average- and heavier-weight sleepers, hips may sink further than is comfortable.
Strengths and trade-offs
- Motion isolation: A clear strength and the category where the mattress scored highest. It suits couples who are disturbed by movement from the other side of the bed.
- Feel and response: The foam is slow-moving and less responsive, so changing positions takes more effort than on a more responsive surface.
- Edge support: Described as decent, but the edge compresses when you sit at the very edge of the bed.
- Cooling: RTINGS rates cooling relative to its own tests. It does not guarantee that hot sleepers will stay cool.
Plus versus ComfortGrande Advanced
RTINGS reports that the ComfortGrande Plus has been discontinued and replaced by the ComfortGrande Advanced. The Advanced uses a different memory foam marketed as EVENcor GelMAX, which may perform differently from the Plus. Because the two foams differ, do not assume the Plus test results describe the Advanced.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAccording to Novaform’s current Advanced page, that mattress ships compressed in a box and can take up to 48 hours to expand. It is compatible with platform beds, box springs, and adjustable bases, and the manufacturer says it uses CertiPUR-US certified foam that is fiberglass-free. Those setup and compatibility claims belong to the Advanced model. They have not been confirmed for the older Plus.

Warranty terms
Novaform’s Advanced page and Costco Canada’s Advanced listing both cite a 20-year limited warranty. For the older Plus, the most specific document available is a ComfortGrande limited warranty PDF issued by Innocor, Inc. and hosted by Wirecutter. It defines body impressions as follows: “Severe body contours are impressions which exceed 1.5 inches in depth below the normal level of the product.” The document says coverage applies to the original purchaser and lists purchase documentation among the claim requirements.
The PDF does not clearly state which ComfortGrande models it covers, so check it against your own model and purchase region before relying on it.

Owner reports
One Reddit user in a Costco discussion says they bought a ComfortGrande Plus in 2021, later returned it to Costco after a durability problem, and received a refund. This is a single account and does not show how common durability problems are or how Costco handles returns in general.
Setup and bedding
Use the listed height of 14 inches when shopping for sheets, but expect the mattress to be slightly shorter. RTINGS measured its sample at 13.7 inches and suggests deep-pocket fitted sheets may be needed. Check the sheet’s pocket depth in its product measurements rather than relying only on a “deep pocket” label. Novaform also sells a 3-inch ComfortGrande Plus Advanced gel memory foam topper, but the available sources do not establish whether it is compatible with the older Plus mattress.

Who should consider it
- Couples who prioritize motion isolation over quick responsiveness.
- Lighter back sleepers and heavier side sleepers, based on RTINGS’ sleeper findings.
- Buyers who want a firmer all-foam feel and are comfortable with a slow-moving surface.
Shoppers who sleep on their side at a lighter body weight, who want stronger pressure relief, or who want a more responsive surface should compare alternatives before buying.
Quick Recap
Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model name and item number. A Costco US Plus listing, a Canadian Advanced listing, and a current Advanced listing are different products.
- Check whether the listing is for the discontinued Plus or the current Advanced, and read the specifications for that model.
- Ask for the warranty document that matches your model and purchase region, and confirm the body-impression threshold and claim requirements.
- Measure your bed and choose sheets based on the mattress height, allowing for the 13.7-inch measurement RTINGS recorded.
- Confirm current availability and return terms with the seller before buying, since these can change.
