The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro and the POCO X8 Pro Max cannot be given one universal price difference. Nothing lists the Phone (4a) Pro at $499 on its US phones collection, but the POCO X8 Pro Max product page used for this comparison gives specifications only, not a price in the same market. A real price gap exists only once both phones are checked in the same country, in the same currency, for the same storage configuration, on the same day. This article compares what each manufacturer publishes, marks where the published figures stop, and sets out how to calculate the difference yourself.
Naming and sources
Nothing’s official product name is “Phone (4a) Pro,” not “Phone 4a Pro.” Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO sells the X8 Pro Max under its own name, and its product page is the global version on Xiaomi’s site. The figures below come from the official pages listed here, checked on October 7, 2026:
- Nothing, Phone (4a) Pro product page (US)
- Nothing, Smartphones collection (US)
- Xiaomi/POCO, POCO X8 Pro Max specifications (global)
- Xiaomi/POCO, POCO X8 Pro Series launch event page
Manufacturer pages are marketing documents, so every figure below is a claim by its publisher. Where a spec is missing from the page reviewed, the table says “not stated” rather than filling the gap.

Cameras and zoom
The two phones share a broad camera layout: each has a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an ultra-wide lens. Nothing’s page describes a camera system that runs from ultra-wide to ultra zoom, and the headline figure is a zoom range of up to 140x. Nothing’s page describes this as the “World’s first 140x ultra zoom.” That phrasing is Nothing’s own marketing, not an independently verified industry first.
#1 Best Overall
- [Compatibility] Designed for Nothing Phone 4a Pro for great protection. NOTE: Not for Nothing Phone 4a / 3 / 3a / 3a Pro. Designed with thoughtful 2.5D curved edges, compatible with most phone cases. Please kindly check your device model before purchasing
- [Easy Installation] Come with an easy installation tool. Allow you to align precisely and install the screen protector quickly without leaving any air bubbles
- [Premium Material] Built with 9H tempered glass. Highly protect the screen from unwanted scratches and abrasions
- [Ultra Clear & Highly Sensitive] Deliver a near-bare-screen viewing experience with crystal-clear clarity. Offer instant, accurate touch response for smooth swiping and touching
- [Anti-Fingerprint] The hydrophobic and oleophobic coating effectively prevents the residue of fingerprints, oil and watermark from gathering on the screen
The 140x figure is a maximum. At extreme magnification, image quality usually depends on stabilization, light and software processing, and none of those are tested in the material reviewed. The POCO page lists an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and does not state a zoom range, so a zoom comparison is not possible from the published specifications alone. What the two sheets do establish is that both main cameras are 50 MP with OIS. Judging which phone takes better photos requires side-by-side tests by an independent reviewer.
Processor and performance
POCO’s specification page names the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s. It also gives performance figures from POCO Internal Labs. Those are measurements taken by the manufacturer under the test version and conditions it published, and they should be quoted with that attribution. The Nothing page reviewed does not name its processor, so no chip-to-chip comparison is possible here. No independent benchmark comparing these two phones was located in the sources reviewed.
Display
The POCO X8 Pro Max has a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Nothing’s product page describes a large, high-refresh display, but the page reviewed does not give panel size, resolution, or refresh rate in comparable form. For an exact display comparison, check Nothing’s regional specification page for the Phone (4a) Pro in your country.
Rank #2
- Heavy-duty bumper frame case
- Anti-slip embossed texture for a secure grip
- Non-yellowing TPU bumper and polycarbonate back
- Air Cushion Bumper design for enhanced shock protection
- Built-in strap holes to attach wrist straps and other accessories
Battery and charging
POCO states an 8500mAh typical battery capacity and 100W HyperCharge. Xiaomi notes that battery configuration can vary by market and that real charging output depends on conditions. Whether a charger is in the box also depends on the local seller, so a listed 100W figure does not mean a 100W adapter comes with every unit. Nothing’s reviewed page gives no battery or charging figures, so battery life and charging speed cannot be compared directly.
Price difference: what is established and how to calculate it
Only one price is established: Nothing lists the Phone (4a) Pro at $499 on its US phones collection, checked October 7, 2026. The page excerpt does not specify which storage and memory configuration that price applies to. The POCO page reviewed gives no price, so no POCO price for the same market can be cited, and no difference can be calculated from these sources.
To find a real difference, work through these steps:

- Choose one country. Prices differ by market, so a US figure cannot be compared with a price elsewhere.
- Find Nothing’s official price for the Phone (4a) Pro in that country on Nothing’s regional site, and record the storage and memory configuration and the date.
- Find the POCO X8 Pro Max price in the same country for the same configuration. Use the official POCO store or an authorized seller, and note the date.
- Compare list prices with list prices. Then compare sale prices separately, because promotions can change within days.
- Check what each price includes: tax, shipping, the charger, and warranty coverage. Import or grey-market units can differ from official stock.
- Subtract the lower total from the higher one in the same currency.
Launch timing and availability
Xiaomi’s launch event page for the POCO X8 Pro Series is dated March 17, 2026. The page states that availability varies by market, so a model listed in one country may not be on sale in another. Nothing’s reviewed pages do not state a launch date for the Phone (4a) Pro, so the two phones cannot be compared on release timing from these sources.
How to decide between them
On published specifications, the POCO X8 Pro Max offers the most complete set of figures: named processor, display size and refresh rate, battery capacity, and charging power. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro offers a three-camera system with a headline zoom claim and a published US list price. Choosing between them comes down to which of those published figures matter to you and what the same configuration costs in your market on the day you buy.
Before buying, check the official regional product page for each phone, confirm the storage configuration, compare the sale price and what is included, and confirm that the seller offers the warranty you expect.
