The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is the better fit if you want a larger, faster-refreshing display and a periscope camera; the standard OPPO Reno16 5G is the more compact option, with three 50MP rear cameras in the UK-reviewed configuration. Both use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, so the chip name alone does not establish which performs better. Prices and some specifications vary by market, so compare the exact regional models.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro vs OPPO Reno16 5G: key specs

This comparison is between the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro and the standard OPPO Reno16 5G—not the Reno16 Pro or Reno16 F. OPPO says availability, timing, and specifications can vary by market. The Reno16 figures below are identified by region where available.

How the cameras differ

Nothing emphasizes a periscope camera and high zoom

The Phone (4a) Pro combines a 50MP OIS main camera with an 8MP ultrawide and a 50MP OIS periscope camera. Nothing advertises zoom up to 140x. That maximum is a zoom specification, not a promise that images at the maximum setting will retain the detail of optical zoom.

Reno16 offers three 50MP rear cameras in the UK-reviewed version

The UK-reviewed Reno16 has 50MP wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. OPPO describes about 3.5x optical zoom for its telephoto camera. That optical zoom figure and Nothing’s advertised maximum zoom describe different capabilities, so they are not directly comparable measures of image quality.

Display and size: choose between a larger canvas and a compact phone

Nothing lists a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with a refresh rate up to 144Hz. The UK Reno16 review reports a smaller 6.32-inch AMOLED screen at 2640 × 1216 and 120Hz. The Nothing is the clearer choice on screen size and maximum refresh rate; the Reno16’s smaller display makes it the more compact option on the published dimensions.

Durability, software support, and charging

Water-resistance ratings are not guarantees against damage

Nothing specifies IP65 and describes a test under 25cm of water for up to 20 minutes. OPPO says Reno16 series models meet IP68/IP69/IP69K classifications under controlled laboratory conditions, depending on the stated standard. Treat these as ratings under specified test conditions, not assurances that either phone is damage-proof in every situation.

Update commitments differ by source and model

Nothing states that the Phone (4a) Pro runs Android 16 and will receive three years of OS updates and six years of security updates. The UK review reports the Reno16 running ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, with five years of OS and six years of security updates. Confirm the applicable regional support terms when buying.

Reno16 charging figures are regional

The UK-reviewed Reno16 is listed with a 6,000mAh battery and 80W wired charging. OPPO’s global announcement says battery capacity varies across regions and gives up to 6,700mAh typical capacity for some Reno16 versions. A matching battery and charging comparison is not established here because the cited Nothing specifications do not state its battery capacity or charging rate.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro if a 6.83-inch display, refresh rate up to 144Hz, and a periscope camera with advertised high zoom matter most.
  • Choose the OPPO Reno16 5G if you prefer a smaller screen and value the three-50MP rear camera setup in the UK-reviewed model.
  • Compare local prices and specifications before deciding if battery capacity, storage, charging, or availability is decisive; those details can differ by Reno16 market variant.
