The POCO X8 Pro Max is the stronger fit if you want a larger screen, a much bigger battery and faster wired charging. Nothing Phone (3) is the more camera-flexible choice on paper, with a 3x optical telephoto lens, and it adds wireless charging and Nothing’s distinctive Glyph interface. There is no universal winner: your local price, preferred camera features and software taste matter.

Which phone has the better display and performance?
Screen size and refresh rate
The POCO’s 6.83-inch AMOLED is larger than the Phone (3)’s 6.67-inch OLED. Both are listed at 1.5K-class resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, so the practical difference is mainly the POCO’s larger viewing area. Whether that is a benefit depends on whether you prefer more room for video and games or a less expansive handset.
Chipsets and demanding use
POCO lists a Dimensity 9500s built on a 3nm process; Phone (3) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The POCO specification sheet makes a performance-oriented proposition, but chipset names alone are not a substitute for comparable real-world tests. Android Central’s Phone (3) review flags performance and thermal limits during demanding testing, while TechRadar describes the POCO as suited to workhorse use (Android Central; TechRadar).

Which has the more useful cameras?
Phone (3) has three stated rear cameras: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3x optical telephoto with OIS. That dedicated telephoto gives it the more versatile listed rear-camera hardware, particularly for subjects that benefit from optical reach. Its listed 50MP front camera also has higher resolution than POCO’s 20MP front camera.
The POCO has a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, with no telephoto camera listed in its official specifications. TechRadar notes camera limitations in its review. Megapixel counts do not determine image quality on their own, so these hardware differences should not be read as a guarantee that Phone (3) produces better photos in every situation (POCO official specifications; TechRadar).
