Brightness figures may use different measurement methods, so they are not a direct screen-to-screen test. Likewise, megapixels and component specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos, lasts longer in everyday use or feels faster. The available specifications describe different hardware positions, not a controlled head-to-head result.
How different are their size and displays?
Phone (2a): more screen area
Nothing lists a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. Its larger diagonal may suit people who prefer more space for reading, video or apps, but diagonal size alone cannot establish readability or comfort.

X300 FE: a smaller display format
vivo India lists a 6.31-inch AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate and 2,640 × 1,216 resolution. Its smaller diagonal is the clearest specification-based reason to consider the X300 FE if you want a more compact-format phone; try the device in hand if handling is a deciding factor.
What camera differences matter?
The key distinction is the rear-camera arrangement. Phone (2a) pairs a main camera with an ultrawide. X300 FE adds a dedicated telephoto camera and uses OIS on both its listed main and telephoto cameras.
- Choose the Phone (2a) layout if: a main-plus-ultrawide pairing covers the views you want.
- Consider the X300 FE if: you specifically want a dedicated telephoto camera as well as main and wide cameras.
vivo says the ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 is compatible with the X300 FE and sold separately. Its India launch announcement listed the accessory at ₹15,999. That launch figure is not a current retailer quote, and the accessory is relevant only if you want the added telephoto setup. Camera counts, OIS and resolution do not by themselves show comparative image quality; sample images or reliable testing under conditions like yours are needed for that judgment.

How do performance, battery and charging compare?
Processor tiers
Nothing lists a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro for Phone (2a); vivo India lists a 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for X300 FE. These are manufacturer specifications that place the processors in different stated tiers, but without a comparable controlled test they do not quantify a speed difference in everyday use.
Battery capacity and charging ratings
Nothing specifies a 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging for Phone (2a). vivo specifies a 6,500mAh typical battery capacity and 90W FlashCharge for X300 FE. The ratings favor X300 FE on listed capacity and charging power, but they do not prove longer real-world endurance or a particular charge time.
Nothing says charging performance depends on temperature and protocol, recommends a PPS charger for optimal charging, and describes roughly one hour to full with its Nothing charger under its stated conditions. Treat that as conditional manufacturer guidance, not a universal charging-time promise.

What are the India prices, and is the vivo worth more?
vivo India announced these launch prices, inclusive of taxes. They are launch references, not today’s live retailer prices:

The vivo India launch announcement also listed ₹15,999 for the ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2. The available price information does not establish a same-date price difference against Phone (2a), nor live prices for both phones across countries. Compare listings for the same market and date, and match storage configurations before judging the premium. Do not treat the X300 FE’s India launch price as its current selling price elsewhere.
The X300 FE may make more sense for a buyer who values its smaller display format, dedicated telephoto camera, higher listed battery capacity and charging rate, or stated processor tier enough to pay the local price. The Phone (2a) may be the better fit if you want a larger display and its actual local price makes it the more affordable option. Those are specification- and price-based trade-offs, not proof that one delivers a better overall experience.

Software, storage and buying checks
The cited regional pages list Android 15 for Phone (2a), alongside Nothing’s stated commitment of three years of major Android updates and four years of security updates. vivo India lists Android 16 and OriginOS 6 for X300 FE. Software versions and support policies can vary by region and date; check the policy that applies to the exact model sold where you live.
vivo’s India specs page lists X300 FE storage options of 8GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB and says its ROM is not expandable. The vivo launch announcement priced the 12GB tiers; it did not establish a launch price for the 8GB+256GB option. Nothing’s cited regional Phone (2a) page shows 12GB+256GB, but configurations can vary by country.

Consider vivo X300 FE if
- You prefer a smaller 6.31-inch display format.
- You want a dedicated telephoto camera with OIS in addition to main and wide cameras.
- You value its listed battery capacity, charging rate or processor tier enough to justify its local price.
Choose based on your priorities and the prices actually available where you live. Specifications can narrow the choice, but they cannot settle camera quality, comfort, battery life or overall value without comparable real-world evidence.
